This is a state park that has campsites and day use area. It is $5 for day use. Very clean and well kept trails and picnic areas. You can rent a canoe for $7/hr. Only paddle or electric motors allowed if you bring your own boat. Leashed dogs allowed. Nothing strenuous, just a very pleasant and quiet jaunt through the forest. It is near Sagle off Dufort Rd.

One of my favorite hikes! We did the whole trail around the lake 4-5 years ago, and it is not strenuous at all, but it was a bit of a mind bender here and there--what looked like the main trail veered off toward the lake and just ended there, and we had to be adventurous and strike out on our own up the slope until we found the main trail. That was actually one of the best parts of the hike! I haven't been on the opposite side of the lake since then, so I don't know if the trail is better marked now. But it's also great just to hang out on the beach. Nice, secluded place, easy access. And obviously beautiful!

It's really easy to get there: Take 95 south; about 6 miles south of the Long Bridge you turn right (west) on Dufort Road. About a mile or so down Dufort you'll see the sign on the left to Round Lake, like in Elousv's picture, on a rise. The access road is good and short, no long trek through the woods.

When we first moved here, we drove past and thought, "how odd that amidst all this beauty they'd put a state park", like we need a state park on top of all we have here. Then we visited...and it really is a very pretty place to spend some time.

We took a break from cabin building our first summer here and rented a canoe there. It was lovely.
