According to Representatives in Idaho, there are only 35 Violent Sex Offenders in Idaho and unless the predator inflicts harm (take an arm for example) then the distance from school Statue does not apply for example.
I am told that Idaho is better than other States; they the predators have done their time; that setting a large distance of their living from schools would be...."unconstitutional"....yes, I was told that. As to the response - "they have done their time" A predator of children conspires to steal a child’s future and because of his choices he is judged and convicted, sentenced, and time is served. I don’t believe, and my conviction is supported by evidence, that a child predator ceases to travel in his path of destruction or that he is transformed by his experience in the correctional institution where he “paid his debt to society”. I submit that the phrase “paid his debt to society” is overused and especially in this instance. Child predators do not wake up one day with changed attitudes and decide they need to go to jail and repay society. No, these predators get caught, arrested, and prosecuted...some times. When a predator is sent to prison, it is an act of punishment intended to deter future predatory activity and future crimes against children, but it does not undo the harm that has been caused to the victims. The harm encompass primarily the innocent children that we as adult are supposed to protect, but it also impacts family and for that matter, entire communities. But I digress. The victims of their crimes, those who live, continue to live with the consequences of the predator’s action long after a jail term has expired. In my opinion, a predator has not truly paid his debt to society even after serving a jail sentence regardless of the amount of time spent behind bars. According to the US Department of Justice, Criminal Offender Statistics; ] “Sex offenders were about four times more likely than non-sex offenders to be arrested for another sex crime after their discharge from prison –– 5.3 percent of sex offenders versus 1.3 percent of non-sex offenders. According to Registered sex offenders in Idaho there were 76 registered sex offenders living in Meridian in early 2007 you should see the list for the State The ratio of number of residents in Meridian to the number of sex offenders is 689 to 1. The number of registered sex offenders compared to the number of residents in this city is smaller than the state average. The current Idaho Code restricting the distance to which VIOLENT predator’s can locate themselves, 500 feet, will not regulate the behaviors of predators. The distance, on the contrary, will bring them close enough to do harm to our children. In opinion, that to close to OUR children. According to the ISP, this year at least 100 predators moved to Idaho. But according to an Idaho Representative, ISP does not know what they are saying because not all predators are....well, violent (is your blood pressure up yet According to one Idaho representative, unless the child is injured in some way, the predator is not classified as violent. Or unless they "tell" someone in jail that they have violent tendencies So, if the predator rapes the child, without taking her/his eye out, he is not a violent sexual predator....ahhhh, get it In Meridian, this is what we know regarding registered offenders: https://www.nationalalertregistry.com There are 35 registered sex offenders are located in your immediate area. The Idaho State Police lists 31 adults for the same Zip Code, and 628 in Ada County alone Idaho Sex Offender Registry As to communication with the community, here is where we are: Access to sex offender information in Ada County, Idaho is provided to the public as the result of the Jacob Wetterling Registration Act, which was passed by the United States Congress and Megan's Law, which requires states to release relevant information about registered offenders to protect the public. I told the representative - well, you get my meaning CHECK OUR CHAPTER 83 SEXUAL OFFENDER REGISTRATION NOTIFICATION AND COMMUNITY RIGHT-TO-KNOW ACT[http://www3.state.id.us/idstat/TOC/18083KTOC.html TITLE 18 CHAPTER 83 Ask if your representative was ELECTED or APPOINTED Register to VOTE VOTE |

I agree with the above. A child molester isn't like a bank robber. There is no change of heart, like a socio-path they are born that way, lock em up and throw away the key.

I actually beg to differ in some cases. You both are right in about 80% of cases however, Idaho is alot like Arizona in the respect that. To them it doesn't matter if you are both highschool sweethearts if you turn 18 even a day before she does both states come down hard and nail you for sexual assualt of a minor. That is an unfair law in my eyes, and the "accused" should never have charges brought against them. I do speak about this from experiance.
However, on the same hand I think that the 80% that are actual scum should be put to death in very imaginative ways if you catch my drift. |

America needs to wake up!
We need to do more to protect our children. It seems as though the only people who actually get laws changed are parents who have lost children to these sick bastards. There is something wrong with that. how many more kids need to loose their lives before these animals are properly punished? |

Since I posted the first entry I have heard cases upon cases of men and women who have been molested as children in Idaho. Yes, I know this is not just an Idaho issue, but alas, I live here...so Idaho is my issue.
The common thread in these cases appears to be that law enforcement officials do not follow through with the complaints, particularly in small towns, and if/when they do the vicitim continues to be punished by many in the community who feel that the predator "was a nice guy" and the child must have "done something to deserve it". We can debate the issue of how to treat predators for as many years as our politicians set laws designed to "protect us" OR we can voice our position to our representative now, talk to school officials, to neighbors, to family....to our children. Let us tell them how we feel and how the fear that this terrible violation of our children's inocense makes us feel. Lets face it, we are afraid that "our" child will one of the children violated...speak up then. The representatives who are elected need to know that we just wont take it anymore and they are elected to work for US and this is an issue of importance to all of us. If the representative is appointed and only serves three months in a year, as in Idaho....call the Governor...{okay maybe after he deals with the Craig issue?} Speaking of that issue, how do you feel every time your male child goes to the men's room in a public bathroom now? Another day, another issue. Here are facts: According to Idaho representatives, not all rapists are considered violent predators and not all child molesters are violent predators. If you dont believe it, ask them...I did. There are no laws protecting our children from predators in Idaho unless they are considered violent predators. and in that case they can be 500 feet from areas where children congregate, but if they have a package to deliver, they can be right there. Check it out. In Idaho, a sexual predator can have his/her criminal record expunged and thus, can obtain jobs as teachers, counselors, police officer, etc. {Yes, this is a fact, not fiction} The State of Montana has a tier system for classification of sexual predators that define those "young lovers" who are considered sexual predators and are not put in the same category. That is something worth considering in Idaho. Lately, the news has been talking about "near" abductions of children just walking home in Boise and Meridian. What are we going to do abut it? Voice your concern (fear) opinion to elected official and law enforcement. Register to vote Vote If a predator lives near you, do NOT avert your eyes when facing him. Let him SEE that you are not afraid. That you are aware of their status. Do not challenge or approach, just dont show fear. Speak loudly if you want to be heard. Our children are our responsibility and the deserve our love and care. Tell them so every day. |
