I don't think we would have received that recognition if there was a huge drug problem based on what I just said above. Please see below:

Very true, thanks for your comment

Yikes, out of control?
But compared to the other states that make up the U.S. is it the least poisoned with drugs? the most poisoned? where is the state of Idaho on a scale?

The meth problem began in the Northwest and all of the western states are in trouble. Montana has been able to slow down meth usage and Idaho is beginning to implement some of Montana’s strategies.
If their ever was a satanic substance on earth it would be meth.

Unfortunately, I think my I have just crossed Idaho off my list of places to move to.
Too many drugs.
If you find a state and city that doesn't have drugs, let the rest of us know. You are not going to be able to get away from drugs in our world today it's just every where. I live in the mountains of Idaho and we have our share here. My teenagers have let me know the places they don't want me to go around and some of the trailer parks and apartments I just wouldn't have thought they were low income, welfare, drug infested places too live.

So you might just look at the beauty there is to offer and we are not like California YET.

I heard that Lewiston is smelly, is this true? If so, what areas around Lewiston aren't smelly? ALso, do you prefer Lewiston or Moscow?

I too am looking to move out west from Philadelphia. Idaho is on our list of places to look out. I looked at the crime stats for Boise and they are not bad at all. Serious crime looks like it is minimal. You are not going to get away from the problem of drugs every city has that problem. If you live in a city enviornment you will have your local street dealers. If you move to some place that is more rural you will have your meth labs. A drug dealer does not seek you out if you are a user then you will be associating with dealers and other users.

Good point, thanks.
If you don't mind me asking, why are you moving from Philadelphia? And what made you consider Idaho?

I am a Sgt in the Phila Police Dept K-9 Unit my wife is also a officer in the K-9 Unit. I am looking to retire in the near future and am sick and tired of Philadelphia. I wanted to move out west and was just surfing around on the net and I kept comming back to Idaho. Believe me I am looking at other states but keep comming back to Idaho. The crime is low the weather looks some what mild. Looking for a place to go where we can relax and have fun with our dogs. Not to mention that me and my wife loved the outdoors.
