Hello
My husband and I are moving to northern ID during fall. I wanted to ask a few questions about the place.
1-When is the first snow fall?
2-When does the temps start to cool off(Sept)?
3-Do you get a lot of black ice?
4-My friend lives in Spokane and they actually have snow studded tires. They said there are special tire places that change your tires like they do oil changes. They like switch your tires out. Is this common in CDA? I am from SW and never lived in snow. I use to snow ski but never lived in it.

1) Nov. 21st at 2:37 PM. Just kidding, but sometime in November.
2) By mid October, you may not see 60 again for a while.
3) I have not seen much black ice, just plain ice.
4) Very common. We have two 4WD vehicles and have them swapped fall and back in spring. It is a free service at the place I bought my tires from. We have studs on one of them. Legal studs in Idaho is Oct 1 to Apr 30 but we usually follow WA Nov 1 to Mar 31.

Thank you so much for this info. I can't wait. I prefer anything below 115 degrees. Even below 0. lol

It can snow anywhere from around Halloween to the end of December, usually November.

It is already cooling down at night now, in the 40's.

I get my tires done at Les Schwab. If you have rims on your extra set of tires it doesn't cost anything, but if they have to put them on the rims on your car it is around $50. You can get studded snow tires, siped tires, or just good winter tires depending on how rural you live and how much and what type of driving you do in the winter.
