Questions about St. Anthony and Rexburg
Hello everyone, my first post here. I am currently living in Saskatchewan and I am not enjoying myself. I dont have a family or kids and i'm 20 years old, I have heard great things about the dirtbiking in st. anthony and rexburg (sand dunes) and dirtbiking happens to be my favourite hobby and after having my local MX track closed I no longer have anywhere legal to ride within 2 hours! Trailering my bike isn't worth it any more to me and my bike is now collecting DUST!
I am ready to pack up and move but I am trying to find a job before I move to ease the work permit process for US customs. I really could care less about what type of job I do as long as I make enough money for rent, food, and gasoline! I will live in a run-down apartment I have to, maybe even a garage!
Does anyone know the current average price of a 1 bedroom apt. monthly?
Also, are there alot of available jobs at atleast 8 dollars an hour? Right now I make the equivilent of 11US an hour. I have some skills but i'm not looking for anything specific.
If anyone is looking for a cheap laborer and offers room and board and a place to store my dirtbike please let me know.

Check out the Rexburg newspaper. http://www.rexburgstandardjournal.com/
I'm actually about 45 minutes from Rexburg so I don't know a lot about it, but hopefully the paper will answer some questions for you.
You could also check out Idaho Falls. It's an easy drive to the dunes. www.postregister.com
Good luck.

Rexburg/St Anthony are not good places to look for jobs. Rexburg is a college town (BYU) and has grown a lot in the past two yrs but their pay hasn't. I lived in Ashton ID for 4 yrs, about 20 miles North of Rexburg. If you have a CDL you can find a job but most only pay .21 per mile. The rest of the jobs are going to be minimum wage for ID. Plus the sand dunes are all what they say they are.
Djstorey is on the right track with Idaho Falls. They have more to offer and you are very close to many great places to ride. Pay is higher, more jobs more to do than in Rexburg.
There is nothing in St Anthony in the way of jobs and there really isn't any housing unless you buy.

Hey YZ, come out to www.duneratt.com. Its THE St. Anthony Sand Dunes site and we'd love to have you join the forum. There are local "transplants" there that can tell you the ups and downs of moving to the area.

Jobs and apartments in St. Anthony, Idaho
There are plenty of rentals in St. Anthony, and rent here is a lot cheaper than Rexburg or Idaho Falls.
As for jobs, for unskilled laborers, $8 an hour is doable. The truss plant is looking for help, the county is looking for three people to work at the landfill and there are other places to look.
If you coming looking for a place to live, check with Hamilton Realty on the corner by the traffic light (there's only one in town). If they don't have anything available, they can refer you to other landlords. There are also a couple of rental companies.

I am moving around the various forums so forgive me if run into some of you more than once. I have an interview for a job that would have me working in Rexburg. Part of this appeal is that I get to live in the great outdoors capitol of the states. I love that. With that, I'd love to have a place with a few acres. I had three acres, creeks and hiking trails in TN and left it to come to Houston for my wife's job. I have a budget of 180-250k for a house and I have two big dogs (not destructive) s I might have to rent for awhile. I need some advice on the best place to live that covers all that. I also need to know whether I need a 4x4 for the road conditions. I have a corvette that I bought two years back. Love the car but don't want to deal with bad weather and the wrong car.
