In the meantime Pine Ridge Mall seems to be dying. Lost Macy's, now Dillard's is leaving. That leaves JC Penney as the only major store. Looks like IF or SLC for clothing now.

As for Macy's, they are pulling out all over the US and consolidating. Their St. Louis HQ (where I currently live) just announced plans to shut down, at a cost of 900 jobs so that they can move to regional HQ in Atlanta. I wouldn't count that against Pocatello, necessarily.

Yes, consolidation is the main reason why they shut the Pocatello store, as they have a Macy's 50 miles north in Idaho Falls. But the recent pull-out of Dillard's confirms that Pocatello is coming up short against IF in this retail sector.

Cost-Co
My mom just reported last night that the new Costco is open over by where Kmart used to be. I am coming home so I hope there will still be some jobs left over for me

I am sure you will enjoy having a Costco store. The "hundred Dollar" store is a great place for a $1.59 "cheap date"...

I've now been to Costco in Pocatello a couple of times. It was actually my first time in a Costco. I kind of like it. Deals aren't spectacular, about like sale prices anywhere but they are easy to find if you don't mind buying a boatload of something. I almost went an bought Costco stock after seeing people load up there though.
I hope people take time to check out some of the cool local businesses in Pocatello if they come to Costco. Shoot me a DM if you are looking for something and want suggestions.
