Your standing at the zip trip in shorts and a t-shirt putting gas in your dodge ram when it's 11 at night, it's snowing, it's 23 degrees and your drinking a slurpee.

You can't decide which hand gun will fit your clothing based on the weather.

Your favorite coffee joint sees you and gets your drink ready by the time you get to the window.

When looking at purses you wonder how many magazines for your glock will fit in the little side pockets (my wife added that one)

It hits 90 in August and your angry and miss the winter.

You forgot where you packed your "summer clothes".

You know where people live based on seeing there cars everyday and you begin calling them things like "green minivan with poodle sticker lady" when you point them out to your wife.

The gunshops in town know you by your first name and call you when they get some thing in they just know you would be crazy about "accept triple BBB, they hate their customers".

Passing into Washington to go to Spokane makes you feel weird, and you feel better when you go back and pass the welcome to Idaho sign.

Feel free to add your own I'm having some fun with this.

I love 'You know when you're in Idaho' jokes!
Here's Jeff Foxworthy's take:
Sun Valley Online | About Us | Jeff Foxworthy on Idaho

I don't know who wrote this one, but it must have been an Idahoan:
You Know You're from Idaho When...

Nor do I know any local people or natives who wear shorts in winter, or who would take pride in it (why in the world would anyone get off on wearing shorts in winter?). The only people who wear shorts in winter who I know, are from...California.

It's hard to imagine any of my neighbors here driving green minivans with poodle stickers on them either. Are you sure you're really in Idaho?

I'm a native of Idaho and part of the description given in the first post does not match the local people I know lol. I don't own a gun and don't hunt and wear North Face in the winter and save the shorts for summer when I am on my mountain bike.

You know you are a local when:

You know by memory where the car is from based on the first two digits of the license plates.

You know that if you are passed by a Utah driver, you are only going 5 over the limit.

You know that Sunday morning is the best time to shop.

You know that Republicans always win, despite their constant mistakes.

You know you're in Idaho when...

Your ATV and tractor cost more than your truck.

You pay a lot of attention to the price of diesel.

Your 45 mile commute takes less than an hour.

You drive faster in the winter because the snow fills in the potholes.

You know someone that's hit a moose.

Half the people in the county have concealled carry permits.

You know where every gun store and ATV store in town is, but have no idea where there is a jewelery store.

A local salon sells a "camo bling purse".

You know women that wear camo as casual wear.

You're a woman and have your own 4x4 (especially red Wranglers).

Your neighbor gave you wild game for christmas.

You buy a car because it matches the color of the mud on your road.

You figure once you get a gun in the house you're home free...because the wife can't tell it from all the other ones there.

You and your spouse go for a dirt bike/atv ride for your anniversery.

You like the smell of Hoppes #9 better than Channel #5. (and can only spell one of them)

You call your truck/car/SUV a "rig".

You know the difference between a creek and a crick (for the Pat McManus readers out there).

You know who Pat McManus is.

That thing on the back of a pickup is a canopie.

You figure $30 is WAY to much to pay for a pair of jeans...but $1000 for a new rifle is a good deal.

You check to see if the local theater has a "no guns" sign...then do a face palm because you momentarily forgot that you're in Idaho.

You buy a gun for home defense...but figure locking the doors is a waste of time since the dog door is so big anyone can crawl through it anyway.

You cringe going into Washington because you forgot to take your "truck gun" out of the glove box...and your CCW ain't no good in that thar commie state.

You're stuck behind some idiot doing 55 in the left lane and you know he'll have a white license plate.

You've ever seen a sign saying "never pass snowplow on right" ...and know it's there for all the Spokanites going to Schweitzer.

You can pronounce Athol and Pend Orielle...and know that Moscow doesn't really have a W.

The official state car is frickin' Subaru.

You know the difference between a creek and a crick (for the Pat McManus readers out there).

You know who Pat McManus is.

Every single one of these are true and apply to me! (well except the woman 4x one) These are just a few off the top of my head.

OK, gotta throw in a Foxworth one...because this applied to a family member. You know your in Idaho when your working TV is sitting on top of your non-working TV.

One more that just happened....you find a dead 5 point buck on your property, and wonder....cougar? Wolf? Coyotes? First wonder why you went for a walk without the handgun...then go get the Sawsall and cut the antlers off.
