I love it here a thousand times over. I say it everyday. I would never want to leave. Born and raised in Sunny Southern California....I looked for a way to leave since I was 5.
Finally, I am right in what I think to be the perfect place. It has everything I love and a pace of life that is slower and more peaceful. I raise Alpacas too. Just like Paca Lady. I think I know of her too. I live in a town closer to the city center. There are farms nearby and plenty of stores too. Now, I had one concern. I Los Angeles I was a dancer and choreographer. I went to may different schools of ballet and was so concerned about finding a studio here. I thought I would have to drive to Spokane for my daughter to take lessons. Boy was I wrong. There is a Coeur d' Alene school of ballet 5 mins. from our house and they are better than any studio I have seen in CA. Amazing danseurs. The art is great here too. I also paint and do all kinds of crafty things and that is all here too. Would love to talk with you more. Can't say enough great things about this place.

From Paris to Coeur d'Alene....wow. The greatest city on earth to the greatest resort town in America...damn.

Does your hubby have an unmarried sister, preferably 32?

Default CdA is Great! (as are surrounding areas)

Yes it is true that this a quite an exceptional place to find friends, educational opportunities for our children as well as ourselves, not to mention the beauty of the landscape .... in spite of an unually harsh winter this last year.

I revel in the fact that the fields around me have turned a lush green in such a short time over the last couple of weeks, and am looking forward to the re-birth of spring with crias (alpaca babies) due in just two short weeks .....and a full moon due the 19th of May to help them along! My spring flowers are in full bloom vivid with color (tulips in red, pink and white), daffodils in brilliant yellows, and narcissus in white .... something in purple (I don't know the name of that flower) and weeds trying to take over as well! Oh I forgot to mention that the dandelions are in full swing as well!!

Heather: we can hardly wait for your arrival in just a month or so ....and welcome you to our family in North Idaho.

Valley Girl: Thanks for the compliment!

PacaLady

Default Keep Bend,Or in mind

In one of your earlier posts you mentioned Bend,Or as a possible place of interest. Its about a 2 1/2 hr. drive from where I live. Its the fastest growing town in Oregon for many reasons. Its a very vibrant town with a feeling that it has been cut right out of the wilderness. The views to the west of the Three Sisters mts. and Mt. Bachelor (great skiiing) are to me, comparable to the alps. Invigorating 4-season climate without extremes.

And as an added bonus to the east of the city is picturesque high desert landscapes. Without a doubt the most desirable city in Oregon. Oh I forgot about the multitude of lakes and rivers nearby that would anywhere else, be considered for National Park status.

Check it out, it might steal your heart.

I gotta say this thread is awesome... Its great to see people as enthusiastic about a place to live as I am. I think my friends here are tired of hearing me go on and on about NID, and its just cool to see others feel the same way I do about North Idaho.
We will be up there in August to finish my custom knife shop on land we bought a couple years back just south of CDA. I cant WAIT! After that we need to get a house up and we are GONE! Still gonna take some time and doing, but it wont be too much longer;-)
I am so excited about being there, I already think of it as home and feel home sick.
It may sound lame but its true.

rick390,

Just FYI, they have already bought a nice place in Coeur d'Alene, and they're moving this summer. In fact, they should be here now...I think they were coming end of June...Heather...you guys all here now living without plastic kitchenware and folding tables awaiting your furniture now?

Default We're home!

We ARE! (Just got my new desktop up and running!)

We are getting settled in after signing last Monday...our international wire transfers didn't arrive until Wednesday but the sellers let us move in asap after signing since we had hooked up all utilities in our name...what a relief! We have found that we have really fab neighbors, too. We were invited to our direct neighbors' 4th of July party with their family, and another one down the street brought us brownies and has lent us their couch! We love this place!

We are slowly but surely getting over our jetlag, the girls and Philippe are improving their English by the minute, and the weather has been fabulous, what more could we ask for?? (Even the dog is happy here!)

Am looking forward to getting our container in a month and getting settled "for good"...("Camping in" has its merits though - less to keep tidy/clean/put away! I am definately NOT complaining!!!)

Will DM you, Sage...
Heather
