When traveling north from Boise to British Columbia, I often regard
Riggins or the Time Zone Bridge over Salmon River as beginning of
North Central Idaho.

Not altogether sure about North Idaho. Moscow? Maybe Potlach or
Plummer? North Central Idaho and North Idaho "border" seems a bit
obtuse at least to me, that is. Can anyone clear this up? Thanks!

I always feel like I'm "in the north" when I go up the hill out of Lewiston and everything starts to change. I view Lewiston as the northern-most city in central Idaho, with the Clearwater River being the divide.

I draw the line at around St. Marie's.

There is a list of "North Idaho" communities here:

Many thanks for providing that FYI North Idaho link which outlines
the True North of Idaho. SH-5 btw Plummer and St. Marie's
is, more or less, a good declaration zone.

Can certainly understand the North Idaho state-of-mind when one
takes a bridge over the Clearwater River, and heads uphill.

I don't think that's right. Everyone I know in Moscow considers it a north Idaho town. If you told them they're part of central Idaho (or "north-central") they'd think you're crazy. Maybe it's just MY friends who are crazy, but their airport is Spokane, their box box shopping is CDA, their big lake is CDA, and their concerts are Spokane (if not at the Kibbie Dome).

Maybe it's just a case of wannabe north Idaho.

We lived in Moscow and it is definitely considered North Idaho.
