I went to a realtor's website and did a search for houses between $50K and $70K in NID and there were quite a few hits. I don't think there were any mansions but the few I looked at seemed comfortable. I'm definitely not picky though.

As PT Barnum once said "there is a sucker born every minute". I'll repeat what I said earlier - 70k, not going to happen.

Don't move anywhere without visiting, preferrable a few times, at least once in the spring/summer and once in the winter. People move here all the time and leave after one winter because they can't deal with it. Yes, it is beautiful here, but there are tons of beautiful places in the US. $70,000 won't get you as far as you think.

MSR,

Can you post the exact thread you are referring to? You have us very curious! Is this "negative" related to people as opposed to geography?

Juneaubound,

What you describe is exactly what we imagined. We are originally from northern New Hampshire and are very accustomed to lots of snow and below freezing temperatures. We expect a home to be old or rundown, and are not looking for a creme puff. We are avid outdoorsman and enjoy photography, hiking and target shooting.

Oldafretired,

Thank you for doing that search! We are NOT at all picky. I built a house in New Hampshire and so we could easily handle a fixer-upper.

Without searching much at all I think they'll find a plethera of houses in NID they'd be happy with. Especially if they're not afraid ta lift a hammer and use a screwdriver a bit. They'll find something they like.

I know of a condemned house that was bought several years ago for $20,000 right here in downtown CDA. They didn't demolish either, the owner put on a new roof. I really don't know anything about the real estate business, just what it is obvious and what I can see with my own eyes. There are many very nice expensive homes in and around the CDA area but there are also many small older homes.

Wow is right!!!!! Thank you so much for posting all those listings!!!
We're not ready to move quite yet, but we can at least see right now if it's doable.

Still curious about this big secret that everyone is holding back. Must be something racial. Can't imagine what else it could be. I know there is an above average Hispanic population in Idaho. I lived in LA for 6 years and got along quite well with the Hispanic community. They are very hard working and very nice.
