I got a breaking news email today the FDA has approved the first TENS unit to prevent migraines. Sage, this is Idaho news given how many have Migraines. Plus, there is really no place in health to post this and be sure Idaho residents see it.

Look for the name Cefaly and talk to your neurologist, if you may be a candidate.

I was alerted via Medscape so it may be 12-24 hrs. before much info is out. Your neurologists will get the info first. I'll have to read about age...

I hope this might help some of my CDF friends

When moving to Idaho, I found my biggest migraine issues were with the changing of the seasons. Dead of winter, I can go up to 30 days with no migraine when it's super cold and I really avoid stress, trigger foods, etc. But spring is rough, and the season changes are all rough on my migraine frequency.

Thanks for the info!

This is good news!
I'm very happy that I moved away from my migraines when I was in my 20's which simply involved moving west away from the east coast and midwest allergans and weather that triggered mine. Not everyone is so lucky so this is a great development.

Interesting. TENS therapy works great on muscle pain, it will be interesting to see if it works on migraines, too. My migraines tend to come on when I consume a lot of caffeine - eliminating that from my diet has worked to get rid of my migraines for the most part.

If you guys want to read more about what TENS therapy is and how it works, I have compiled an article detailing TENS - what it feels like, how to use it, the technical aspects, etc.

You are correct cmshort, TENS units work with some muscular and some neuro-muscular situations. Of course it depends on the cause.

Since this thread is about the newly FDA approved Migraine unit, I'll post that separately.
