Well, that's sad. About how many people work at the HQ in Sandpoint?

That is really sad
I used to buy the majority of my clothing from their website, until the last 5 or so years....I was not aware of any management changes, but I did notice that their clothing was no longer worth the price.

It new appears they are going into Chapter 7 and liquidate, rather than re-organizing under a Chapter 11. I just heard a report that they intend to start liquidating in May.

350 people in sandpoint will be out of a job. If we saved one person from that here on CD I'm glad.

I agree this sad. In many ways, I think good events and companies in NID helped educate others about who did and didn't live in the region. Plus, this was always an example of businesses being headquartered in a smaller area and serving the world.

What options are available for the workers and their families? Does Spokane have any businesses that manufacture any type of clothing or closely associated goods?

Perhaps some clothing manufacturer that needs more space for manufacturing will purchase the facility and workers can still work.

I used to love their clothes, couldn't afford much but loved the way they looked... things changed though, its like they changed directions to me, the look was totally different, wasn't interested in their clothes any longer. I've heard people say the economy did them in and maybe/maybe not, maybe they just lost their fan base by changing their look. My husband worked in IT and a couple of months ago there was an IT job for Coldwater Creek and I was so excited to tell him about it, most of the jobs I've found just don't pay as well and that one paid well. Plus I am soooooo ready to get our batookies to N ID but he said he didn't have the right qualifications. I was disappointed, but it is what it is. Now I'm glad, that would have been so tough to get up there, start a new job and get laid off a few months later. I wish someone would purchase the company and take it back to what it was...

Maybe it will.
Coldwater Creek is going to leave behind a lot of experienced employees, and they could be a very valuable resource to an up and coming young clothing retailing outfit.

From what I've gathered from regulars here, much of Clearwater's problems came from the husband-wife founders of the company, not it's employees. Another company's leadership could be much different and more able to avoid the problems that plowed Clearwater under.

N. Idaho is one of the places where i think a lot of good professionals would like to live and work.
