You know, I admit to being ambivalent about sharing the beauties of Idaho. Are you guys? I live on LPO and love it to death...but my favorite lake...well...I'll keep that to myself!

Thumbs up Only 7 for the Whole State?

Excellent topic, Torrie. Wow, that takes some time to think about! I'm not sure how to count them, but the Sawtooths and the Tetons, plus Mesa Falls have to be up there.

I'm sure all the jagged edges of the Mtns. surpass 7 Wonders, but I'm hoping the posters here will be forgiving and let each Mtn. Range count as one wonder each.

I think Lake Coeur d'Alene has to be in there too.

And the gorgoues sky. That isn't limited to Montana, regardless of what their licenses say.

Yikes, I'm already at 5 for ID.

Maybe a cool follow up question would be, "What are the 7 wonders of the 7 major districts the State of ID has to cover the entire state?" It that isn't cleare, I'd be happy to explain or link to the 7 Districts in Idaho.

I'm looking forward to the thoughts of others!

Lake CDA is already in there, lumped in with Lake Pend Oreille and Priest Lake.

Yes, I'll admit to that. We live 10 miles south of Priest Lake on the Priest River and I hate to think of PL becoming more developed.

I am as well.

It's really annoying to those within the different subcultures in Idaho whenever there's a book published or website put up with descriptions and maps of that place/trail/site/hot-springs/hunting spot/etc.

All for a buck, I suppose.

That said there are many great things about Idaho that can accommodate a great number of people (and tourists), and most of the places on that list can do that.

Default Shhhh.....

...heck, I don't even expect neighbors to fill me in on their hotspots. Makes life more interesting and adds a bt of small town intrigue, no? Fishing & Hunting spots; wildlife viewing; best sunset/sunrise; best place to catch wind in the sails, best grove of trees to breathe in nature's complexity, etc. I would even argue that I don't want to hear from another...nothing like self-discovery.

But the pride and joy are there..

I think the key is an outside image that neither the "ultimate" nor the worst. Vanilla! God forbid we truly yield up our secrets and treasures. Pretty such suggests that local companies not get too successful!

Any politician thnking of unlocking our forests to developers had better think again!
