Default Craftsman houses for $100,000 maximum

Is there anywhere in ID that I can get an old craftsman house for under $100,000. I like nice riverfronts, bike paths, and cutesy, artsy, and notalgic downtowns......Is there anywhere in ID like this?

Not many, if at all. And those you find may be big time projects.

Check out some of the smaller towns in southern and eastern idaho, best bet. Anything close to a big city, or a lake or ski resort, good luck.

Buy land and do a manufactured home--new manufactured homes are actually very nice.

I would look at Buhl or Burley in Southern Idaho, and Blackfoot in Eastern Idaho may still have a few. Malad, Preston and some of the small towns in South Eastern Idaho may still hold a few....I am in Twin Falls and I know we don't have any in that price range here anymore..Hope this helps

Almost every city or town in Idaho I have visited has historic crafstman neighborhoods, especially Emmett, Weiser, Payette, Caldwell, Nampa, (there aren't homes in Boise for under $100,000, maybe a trailer).
I would say most sizable towns/cities in Idaho have what you are looking for, but the price. Most are probably over $100,000, even Weiser and Blackfoot.
For being a state with a smaller population, Idaho homes are not cheap as some people might assume. I am blown away how much a old historic beauty costs in small towns.

I have been looking for the same thing around Coeur d'Alene, but with up to $200K to spend, and decent Craftsman homes are hard to find. Most require a lot of work, or they are in the middle of town on tiny lots. Good luck in your search.

In decent neighborhoods? $220+ in CDA; $240K+ in Sandpoint. There is a cute one on Oak in Sandpoint going for $290K. There is a nice older house in Lakeside that just relisted for a bit more that it sold for within last 18 months. From my vantage point, two types of homes are falling in price. One type is the low end cookie cutters in nondescript n'hoods and low end homes in general all of which rode the wave up from 2002. The other type is the high end home build for out of state folks with equity and looking for pre-retirement or a change in lifestyle. Both types were overbuild and priced to explot the unique market conditions. The solid homes in the middle (well built, craftsman, solid location, etc.) hasve not really come down in price (perhaps 5% off of peak). These are the ones that get the eyeballs at open houses. They are the reasonable alternative to the 3000-5000sf behemoths that were built with images of windfall profits dancing in people's minds.Just be prepared to negotiate hard and fast if some of the nicer homes get auctioned or short saled.

But fear does things. And if the builder is carrying a note and needs to unload, you may be able to slice 10% off of the figures I noted above. Otehrwise
