STRMCSR is on a distinguished road
I was born in the L.A area and lived their till I was 5 (Newbury Park) and basically grew up in the Boise area (moved here in 1970). However, I have family that still resides in L.A. and I visit them fairly often. When I was younger I missed the obvious things (beach, Disneyland, palm trees, etc.); however, I focused on that because I was a kid. After growing up, I realized the real reason my folks wanted to move to Idaho, leave the hustle and bustle and everything that goes with it behind. My parents are gone now by I have never been more thankful that they chose this area to move and raise their kids. Boise has changed quite a bit in the last 38 years. Some of the changes are bad (more people, traffic, etc.); however, when compared to L.A., those things are nothin. There are pretty much the same things to do that you would find in L.A, less the 3 things that I mentioned earlier (beach, Disneyland, palm trees). What you still won't find are the large crowds wherever you choose to go. I remember going to the mountains in California. There were always thousands of people when you got there. The beach, same thing. Here you still feel like you can have a little bit of elbow room.

One thing that you have probably heard of a time or too is all of the California bashing that goes on. My experience has been that most of the Californian's that come here appreciate and very protective of the quality of life in Boise and strive to keep Boise from becoming what they just left.

Anyways, I still love L.A.; however, I couldn't see myself living there. I have a friend that grew up here with me in Idaho and now lives in Riverside, CA. he can't wait to get out of there someday.

Default Idaho

First and foremost, if your fiance' wants to have his daughter live with him on the weekends, that means that you need to live close enough to where the daughter lives to make that happen - right? So where is that?

We moved from California in 2001 and moved to Moscow, Idaho.

The population is about 25,000. It is a small town that does not have traffic jams, but still has lots of culture and activities. That is because it is a University town. The University of Idaho offers many activities. Pullman, Washington is just 12 miles away - we are border towns. We have top billing singers, comedians, etc. that come to perform. The National Jazz Festival comes every year.

We have a bike/walking path that spans between Pullman and Moscow and goes on out to Troy, Idaho (at least I think that it goes that far). You can go cross country skiing right here.

To have LOTS of mall shopping experiences you will need to go to Lewiston, Idaho about 45 minutes south or Spokane, WA about 1 hour 20 minutes north. We do have an airport that handles most commercial planes, but not 747's. We have carriers like Horizon, etc.

We had LOTS of snow this year. We get snow every year for a couple of months. Typically it comes in November or December and leaves in February March. Then we have a raining month or two for spring and then warm summer days with cool evenings. We have about 2 weeks that it hits 96 - 100 degrees. Then it is time for Indian Summers and beautiful falls.

Janine

Default Moscow, Idaho

We have pine covered mountains and lots of wildlife - the 4 legged kind in the woods and the 2 legged kind in the clubs!

The college brings in lots of diversity.

Hey i'm a Idaho Native and i read and post here..lol
Honestly... CDA would be good as far as the view...But if you like to go to Clubs, Spokane Wa, is a good bet. Most People who live in CDA work in Spokane and just make a commute. I like it here in Spokane...Mainly becuase North Idaho has changed so much.
There are plenty of Schools to choose from here in Spokane. So if you want to have the view I would go with CDA and just commute to Spokane for the night life and Colleges.
SEEE Idaho Native can be nice!!!

Default Moscow?

Isn't that where the university is? It's cool, well-sized and has all the education one could want...or am I missing something?
