barefootdancer,

Good luck finding any young kids in Stanley outside of the tourist season. I think most of the year round residents are old-timers but I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time! If you don't have any contacts there, I'd check churches or community groups, maybe city hall or the post office bulletin boards.

I envy you if you are moving there, absolutely stunning area, but one of the coldest places in Idaho in the winter. I don't mind cold, so I'd be fine with that.

Barefootdancer,

I have to agree with Twinprism. I'd check with the high schools where kids in Clark/Lenhi Counties attend school. Also, any former/present educators may know of potential babysitters, although the rural nature may make logistics a real challenge.

Hopefully, if you have any church or other civic connections, you can get names that way.

You may also want to check with Steele Memorial Hospital in Salmon. The hospital may be hosting basic babysitting classes or have other contacts in the Stanley area.

Also, I'd encourage you to look at babysitters of all ages. Adults who want extra $, or enjoy kids may be part of your answer. I don't know how many families with kids who need babysitters are moving to Stanley. You may provide a wonderful opportunity for an adult, let alone younger babysitters.

It only takes 1-2 good babysitters to make life more enjoyable for all.

When you find that information, without posting specific names here, would you please share how you went about it? Others could PM you for the names of who you decide to utilize. Learning the process of networking may be helpful for many, regardless of their specific location.

Good luck!

MSR

idahomama is on a distinguished road
Barefootdancer,

Are you moving to Stanley or just visiting? We live in Stanley full time with young children. There are several people who will do some babysitting in the area. People here tend to be fairly resourceful and frequently "wear many different hats". If you are moving here, contact me and I will try and help you out.

Wendy
