Sounds like you'll want northern Idaho as the south is high desert. Good luck in your search.

Except for the sun part, not lots of sun here except summer.

Thanks for your responses. North Idaho is the area that we have been looking at most, primarily the CDA area. We are 27 year old healthcare professionalls, no kids but will be planning on that in the future.

I agree with Crayola, we have all but the sunshine up here in Sandpoint. Skiing and snow is abundant, but most days are quite gray and dark from November until March. Summers are beautiful, but brief.. think 4th of July to Labor day...

Pocatello fits all your requirements except for precip. In August the hills get pretty brown and the water skiing season can be a bit short. In low water years, you may have to get your fix on the river as the reservoirs get pretty low in late summer. We have lots of sun and world class hiking/biking/rock climbing.
We have about the most moderate housing prices in Idaho of all the decent sized cities. Check it out or ask if you want to know more. |

Thank you for all of your help; I will do more research based on what you have told me. The CDA area looks to be perfect for us, but we are concerned that house prices may be getting to high.

Just wait...prices are falling in CDA. Kootenai County is in decline in the market now...it's gone beyond just extended days-on-market to lowered average prices now...so be patient and check around CDA, Post Falls, and Hayden.

We are looking to move this summer - preferably to the CDA or Post Falls area. How is the job market? I've spoken with a couple of agencies, and they think I won't have a problem locating a job. Thanks for any help or ideas where to look. |
