Post Falls is 2 hrs. from here. just because a town is in N. Idaho doesn't mean we all have the same amount of snow. We have WAY more snow than Sandpoint and Sandpoint has more than CDA.

I do not live there, so I cannot say what you experience locally out there, but this is kind of interesting to compare. They are 2 maps showing the snowpack as of early Feb for 2008 and also showing 2005 early Feb. We oveall as a country seem to have more snow on the ground than a few yrs back. Kind of hard to see which is which, but I'm sure you can figure out this yrs map. Here is a link to the original site. National Snow Analyses - NOHRSC - The ultimate source for snow information

I agree that if one were to move out to a snowy area, if you are not a huge fan of tons of snow, 4.5 ft or 3.1 ft on the ground won't likely matter either way.

NIce pics too! Very peaceful. I wish I had that. We may get 10 in. tonight here in WI though.

On KREM2 news a couple of nights ago they said that CDA was at 122" and Athol was at 156" for the season and were comparing this years snowfall in north Idaho to a record set in (I think) 1918. Did anyone else hear this? We are at a higher elevation than either of these towns (very close to Priest Lake) and that seems like a lot.

I have'nt been measuring since 1918 but I find the weather anchors around here to be very unreliable lol, or maybe it's just that the weather is so unreliable from one place to the next. It currently looks like a blizzard at my house and the news said it is just a little flurry in town

Misty,

I saw that news cast on the totals, and I can atest to the 156" for Athol as I live just a bit north. With another 6 to 8 inches coming tonight we are buried!!
