Default ID Falls vs Coeur d'Alene

I have lived in Cd'A for 6 years and while I love the spring and summer, the winters are getting harsher and snowier, good paying jobs with a great employer are so difficult to find and the singles scene is non-existent if your'e over 35 and still want to have kids.

I have friend who just moved from Spokane to ID Falls who really loves it there, but she had a great job in place before she got there and is married with young kids so were in a totally different place.

Is housing and wages more or less than Cd'A in general? How does the climate compare to here? Singles scene if your not 20 something anymore?

Thanks for the feedback!

If I were going to put up with those harsh of winters, I would just go to Coeur d' Alene, personally. The scenery is undeniably more beautiful in Coeur d' Alene, than Idaho Falls (which sits admist farm fields, in the middle of mountain chains). However, I'm sure there are more jobs in Idaho Falls, then CdA.

I used to live in Idaho Falls. The day I moved there the air temperature was -32F. Don't think you are escaping cold in Idaho. Idaho Falls and CD'l are two entirely different worlds. You are trying to compare apples and oranges.

Idaho Falls, having an elevation almost twice that of Cd'A is not a warmer alternative. That said, the cost of living is lower and the job market is really good in Idaho Falls.

If you're looking to stay in Idaho and have a less harsh winter then consider Boise. If you're looking for a smaller community with less harsh winters then possibly Twin Falls.

I've been to Missoula and it reminded me of a Pocatello, plus I am not sure somebody would want to live in Montana if they are looking for less harsh winters. I would bet that Couer d'Alene has a much stronger, diversified economy than Missoula, just my gut reaction---this is CD'A you are speaking of after all.
Idaho Falls a dump farm community? I have heard many great things about Idaho Fall's strong economy with great professional jobs, and all of those farms in the I.F. area help feed your belly and the world, so think twice before you dog on farmers and/or farming communities.

Never heard CDA called dull or boring, I would leave Boise to live there in a heartbeat, have you even been there? A college town I wouldn't say has a great economy unless you are a professor. I also don't know of any college students who are looking to get married and have kids with someone almost 40, no offense Heidi. Boise would be your best bet.

I have to concur with the others that Boise is what you're looking for. Especially if we start getting "real" winters again like this year.

hey there, so CDA and IF both very cold climates. what about the schooling which has better schools? ive heard alot of good things about CDA schools. also economy sucks everywhere right now. so my guess if your a farmer or proffesional you should live in IF and if you are looking for "a regular job" you will be okay in CDA. what about hosing is it relatively the same? how about culture, i hear CDA is a white supremeist place and that IF is a mormon community. has CDA changed thier thinking yet as i have seen that thier population of hispanic has grown. am i right.. thank you for your input
