Question Lyme Diease in Idaho?

I was watching a show on TV this past weekend and it was discussing a problem in northern Idaho that was presenting itself due to an expanding population of deer in the cities and town areas. The moderator was saying that these deer can carry the ticks that carry Lyme Diease. Have there been any instances of Lyme Disease in the CdAarea? Or Northern Idaho in general? I hadn't heard about this being a problem but can't help but be curious.

I have not heard of some big problems with it, but do personally know of someone that lives in the Ahsahka area that had it.

I have'nt heard anything out of the ordinary about lyme disease around here. The deer being close to towns is accurate though.

Deer are everywhere around here, but we have not heard of this problem with anyone we know.

An Elk herd of 70-80 head trashed our orchard and arboretum close to our house this winter. I have Lyme disease, am currently being treated but had to go to California to specialist to get the simple antibiotic for it. Nine doctors refused to treat me. Most of these said Lyme doesn't exist in Idaho. They couldn't diagnose me but just "Knew" it wasn't Lyme. They are uneducated about Lyme and it's co-infections. They don't know how to read the tests or which labs to perform the tests. Some have been taught falsehoods about Lyme. Most people in ID with Lyme are being misdiagnosed with depression, old age, lack of exercise, Lupus, chronic fatigue, MS, or fibromyalgia.

That is sort of what the TV special I was watching was saying. That Lyme is there in our NW (ID & WA & OR) but that it is being misdiagnosed. I am not afraid or paranoid of it at all, but it's good to know if the possibility of any infection or virus is present so that steps can be taken to avoid or treat it. We have elk and deer and antelope here in my area, too (northern AZ), but so far I haven't heard of any Lyme showing up. I was just curious, since I do hope to relocate to N. ID in a year or so.

Default all warm blooded animals can carry "the tick" for lymes!

Any of the warm blooded animals can/but don't alway have "the tick" that carries lymes. Last I heard it was suppose to be able to be determined in a blood test, providing what is "known" to look for! As for experience in the North states of Drs and their knowledge -- I have no personal experience there.

It is known that the tick needs to buried into you for 24-48 hrs before the "likely hood of you getting lymes."

Unless for some reason you have a reaction to the disease itself, its treatable.

Dee

Default Lyme is treatable yes and no.

Lyme is only treatable if you can get a doctor to treat you. Most people don't know they have been bitten. Some can carry the bacteria for years and not realize it until trauma or stress triggers it. One shouldn't worry though, just take precautions and if Lyme is ever suspected go to a Lyme doctor and no one else because they will do their best to prove you don't have it rather than help you.

Default Myths regarding Lyme will not help you. I wish they did

I am sorry to inform all of you that you are believing/following the myths about Lyme Disease. It bothers me much mainly because I started that way. I was infected 13 years before I was properly tested and diagnosed by a lyme literate dotor in San Diego. My mistake was putting my faith in docs rather than researching and I mean intense research for myself. However, I was very sick so it took me a while to step up for myself. The most beneficical acts you can do for yourself or your sick friend who is in need of an advocate is first know they are scarreed shootless, they don't want to have crazy syymptoms, they are not exaggerating their sym0ptoms in fact most of the time they may attmept to down play.

those all would be lovley! Excellence is obtaining the Highest and Best source there is. Find the best Lyme literate docs availble. Read alot. Find out what many patients have to say. Research, listen than make up your own mind. Best place to gather Lyme disease information. Best place to ask any questions.

LymeNet Flash

Good Luck!!
