PBAWRIGHT is on a distinguished road
Default Interracial couple moving to Pocatello

My husband and I will be relocating to Pocatello with our two school age children from Washington state. We live in a big city with plenty diversity. I am concerned about the information people have told us about Pocatello. I am not a small town girl ( love the city). After doing the research it looks like few African Americans live there, and even less interracial children in the schools??? I am looking for as much info on Pocatello as I can get. The internet does not have much. When looking at the pictures provided it seems to look alot like Pullman Washington where WSU is located?

What would you like to know? You are right there are relatively few African Americans here, but as far as tolerance for racial diversity I think it's pretty good. For most race isn't an issue here but it depends which crowd you hang with. I'm sure you can find some racists among the rednecks if you go looking, but I never come across those attitudes of which I'm glad, but I'm mostly around the university which has more diversity. My kids go to a public charter school, and respect for diversity is awesome there, my oldest is in public high school and I can ask him what he thinks.

I'd say it's more like Missoula, Montana than Pullman in climate, much drier.

It is a small city, but does have a suprising array of cultural and music events, but not that much for nightlife. What do you think you'll miss from the city?
