Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm a 21 year old student, and I just cannot seem to find any work in North Idaho. I live in the CdA area, and can't get hired for anything for the life of me. I've tried the hospitals, construction, etc, but they seem to only want experienced people. Short of working at McDonalds, I'm at wit's end.
I'd take almost anything at this point, besides working at fast food joints. Are there any construction companies that hire entry levelers? Are there any companies that hire for entry level anything? Job websites that I do not know about? I'd really appreciate any kind of help. |

Take what you can get and be happy, your a student right so go to school and then go punch a clock a flip burgers. The way the economy is getting there are alot of people out of work so entry level is going to be competitive. If you need the money humble yourself and go to work. |

Have you tried temporary work through a temp service? They can be great starters. There is one in Post Falls, Personal Express, or something like that. The company is listed as very good in providing jobs. I use to work for temp companies and loved it!

I don't think your situation is too unique, unfortunately...for a young person with no skills or experience it's really hard to get a foot in the work-a-day world. I don't want to sound condesceding here, because I'm not...but if you are sporting a tongue stud or other body "armor", or strange hair, or baggy clothes, etc, you will have a much harder time finding work than a clean-cut looking youth. Please don't think I am being critical...my own son had a pony tail down his back and a couple of tattoos, and he had a terrinle time getting people to trust him or take him as a serious adult. he just "could not find work" either. Eventually he got into the electrical profession because of a friend and he wound up with his own company...but his young years and his appearance at that time was a huge detriment. I don't know you and you may be squeaky clean in appearance...forgive me if that's the case...but be sure you are projecting the image of a trustworthy young man who wants to work and does not indulge in illicit "stuff". Appearance should not make that much difference, but the truth is... it does

Most grocery stores are always looking for cashiers, look into Fred Meyers. If none of those things pan out, Spokane may be your best bet. Hope all goes well in your search and outcome! |
