Question Moving to Shelley, questions about work and schools

I am a single mom planning a move to Shelley with 2 middle-school aged kids. Can anyone give me the heads up on employment opportunities in Shelley proper (has the town grown in the past couple of years?). I am presently working in Restaurant/Gourmet Market area but also have extensive administrative experience.

This is my first post, hope I've got the right forum!!

Thanks

Here's a link to the classified section of our local paper to give you an idea on jobs available.

Post Register - Classifieds

There's not a huge amount of job diversity in Shelley which is still a small, agricultural town. However, Idaho Falls is only a 15 minute drive and a lot of people who don't farm live in Shelley and work in Idaho Falls.j

As for the schools, my best friend moved from Ammon to Shelley and she's been happy with the school system and administration. Her children, ranging in age from 6 to 13, didn't have any trouble adjusting and making new friends.

Default Thank you, Very useful link, Expat groups?

Thank you for the very useful link and good word on schools, which surely cannot be as bad as what we have in California, bad schools getting the budget axe...

Does anyone happen to know if there are any Expat groups in Shelley area - ie social group for escaped Californians?

LOL, I don't know if they have any expat groups. My husband's from Southern CA (Simi Valley) and we lived there for 5 years after we were married (Woodland Hills, Northridge and Simi).

I understand about the schools. We decided to move back to Idaho once we started having children, and the schools system definitely played a part in our decision.

Default Schools in ID vs. CA

So would you say Idaho schools are not suffering from the kinds of budget cuts California schools are facing? We are about to suffer massive layoffs and the elimination of many programs which in my opinion were already minimal.
