Smile Albertsons is an Idaho Favorite.

Broulim's has been trying to build a supermarket in Bonneville County for years. They were blocked 2 times, I believe, at a great eastside location.

Broulim's would do well to just build elsewhere in Idaho Falls or Bonneville County. There are reasons they were blocked from where they wanted to build, but I'm not allowed to share information I know. Let me just say the rest of that story hasn't been told yet.

Albertsons is the highest end store, IMO. While originally starting in Boise, and expanding essentially throughout the nation, for decades Albertsons Corp. was in Boise. Unforutnately, they sold to a larger chain and their headquarters are now in MN.

Nonetheless, the Albertson's Brand Name, which was retained for the western states and a few others, has a good reputation. The one of Hitt Road, I believe, is undergoing remodeling again. It carries some of the higher end items.

Lots of people really do like WinCo. And I still like seeing the Fred Meyers sign different than Smith's, although they are both owned by Kroeger. In other states, the "Fred Meyers," now are mostly, "Smiths Markeplace."

I know cashiers who work at Smith's and Albertsons. I've been greatly surprised what they make hourly.

Norcalmom, you clearly are trying to get some information prior to moving to the area, which I believe is good. As for employment, I'd stay connected with the links given to you in other threads.

What sources, via city government, or Idaho Falls Magazine etc. have you contacted to get your questions answered? I'm sure you have more questions and you may be surprised at what some have compiled for those relocating.

Anyway, it is always good to hear from the one who is asking the question where they found the most help. Certain supermarkets may be great to work for, but unless there is an open position when you move, it doesn't help you (unless they take applications for potential vacancies). I tend to plan ahead too, but realize at some point I have to find certain things for myself, given when I'll be making changes, moving, my specific needs or whatever my situation is.

When were you last in Idaho Falls? Or, when will you next be in Idaho Falls? Your questions may easily be answered based partially on where you live, other responsibilities and why you are relocating. Some would rather work closer to home, pay less for travel/gas $, and not have traffic hassles. The reasons you are relocating, I'd encourage you to think about as you search for new places to work and/or shop etc. in Idaho Falls.

For example, if you dislike traffic, there are times of the day the Idaho Falls traffic can be as bad as certain CA traffic. No, it doesn't come to a stand still on a freeway. However, bumper to bumper is still bumper to bumper, regardless of what city one lives in. If you are relocating to be by family, or other job opportunities etc., then those become factors in considering your other questions.

I'm sure you'll find what you need. When in doubt, check with the Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce or Idaho Falls CVB - Idaho Falls, Idaho United States - Idaho Falls ID Hotel Reservations etc. Good luck getting everything located ahead of time - I still think a road trip through the area will answer more of your questions than anyone else can.

MSR, you are correct. The Alberston's in Ammon on Hitt is having a makeover of sorts. I'm thinking I saw a sign that they will have their own pizza shop inside where customer service used to be.
