Default Mountain Home is far but close enough to Boise...

I live in Mountain Home. Although it says the town is about 11,000 people, I do not see it. We are a 30 minute drive up the interstate to Boise and there is tons of land around here available for livestock and some agriculture. There are not a significant number of large retail or commercial stores in Mountain Home. Additionally, there is a military base 8 miles from the town which can be a source of employees with knowledge and good skill sets. The only chain restaurant is a Smokey Mountain Pizza. The town is very quite and needs more employment opportunities. We do get snow here but it does not last too long and the mountains are a 15 minute drive up north (if you want more snow). I like it here, so come on up.

I really do not know much about Mountain Home. I WILL second the Salmon suggestion. Salmon is a GREAT town. So pretty and if land prices are still reasonable it might suit your business well. We used to live in Challis, 60 miles up the highway from Salmon.

I do have friends in Challis with property and a nice house FAB view and GREAT shop for sale.

I would really like to know more about the Council/Cambridge area I think it will fit our pocket books. We need at least 40 acres, our mfg buildings w/moving is going to run us a good 2mil so I really need to keep the property prices down. Hopefully we will find something over the next 2 wks. When it snows does it stick around? And are their any dairy’s in the area. What don’t you like about the area?

When it snows does it stick around?? Just a little. LOL We had about 4 foot on the flat for a couple of months. Then it melted off nicely. No flooding this year. Posted this before too. Now we are all green flowers blooming 10 weeks later.

2-1-08-J.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Just click next until you get to the end of the snow pictures.

Forgot the price. Check Craig's list ,Boise Idaho then for Cambridge. There s 58 or so acres listed for sale. Might be able to do commercial there. There is one Dairy left here in Cambridge. There used to be three. McKee Dairy on Highway 95 and Fort Road.

I am sure you would know to check with the counties, Washington for Cambridge and Adams for Council, planning and zoning before buying property to see if it is ok for industrial. I think the large piece in Cambridge might not work for industrial. Council might be better to find employees. There are more people there. Finding the right piece of property in a hurry for a business as large as yours might be might be hard. Took us three years to find a house over here to buy when we first came over here from Challis. Cheep is out of the question since Tamarack Resort went in.

If you are coming this way let us know. We can show you around. Just keep in mind if our place closes next week we will be into the moving process.

Chris

Check out Shelley, Idaho, just south of Idaho Falls. And if you decide it's the place for you, hire me, I'm on my way there!

What about Grangeville Idaho or some place in Central Idaho!!!
Just a thought, it's not that big and has snow and you can get Land for not a ton of cash. A lot of Farmers and Ranchers.
I lived there and it is a great place to live. I know since i left,11 years ago the place has grown. You might want to take a look at Grangevill.
Good Luck

I'm just curious if you've narrowed your search down at all yet?

I think the Council area is looking the best for us. An abundance of property at an affordable price. We are going out there in the next couple of wks to check it out.

We have only 10 employees willing to move so we would need to hirable work force. We would prefer a town of 4000 or so smaller is OK as long as we can get UPS service daily. More than 6000 is to large as we don’t want to compete for employees. Thanks so much for any information/direction you can give me.
Please check out our area here in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. We're kind of the last down home town in the panhandle. Businesses are slowly moving in, the size is what you're looking for and prices are still "ok". We're CA transplants ourselves, dating from 1970 and I could tell you a lot, but there is more stats on the web sites like population, weather etc. We have the 4 seasons but they're not like the Dakotas and the other northern states. We have our 2 places for sale, but we're just moving to a business location we purchased.
Oh yes, UPS and Fedex is quite busy here.
Good luck!

Default Hey check out Malad

Malad has about 3000 population.
lots of open spaces.
about 1 1/2 hour drive from SLC, or 1 hour from Pocatello.
UPS comes here daily.
there is a need for employment, as LaZ boy is shutting down this year and laying off hundreds of employees.
