Default Live in Washington, work in Idaho

Hi all,

I was thinking of relocating to Lewiston and was shocked at your state income tax rate (8.2% i think). I was wondering if I live in Clarkston, Washington and worked in Lewiston, Idaho, would I still have to pay the Idaho state income tax?

Thank you

The income tax is graduated from 1.6% to 7.8%. Anything over 20,000 is taxed at 7.8%. If you live in Clarkston and work in Idaho you must pay Idaho income tax on Idaho income. If I remember correctly you can not use the Grocery Tax credit if you live out of state. If you purchase a car you must pay Washington sales tax which is higher than Idaho sales tax. In Asotin County (Clarkston) the sales tax is 7.5% and in Nez Perce County (Lewiston) it is 6.5%. I lived in Clarkston and worked in Lewiston for just over one year.

wow, is rent substantially less in Lewiston? how much is a typical one-bedroom? seems like looking for a job in Washington state in the near future would make more sense for a renter.
