Went shooting at Farragut this afternoon and have washed my hands about eighty-seven times since. They still stink! Can't get that powder smell off my fingers.

By the way, talking with the range master, they said that they are now open year round. But only Friday through Monday. They used to close in the winter. They are looking for volunteers to become Range Safety Officers. Will pay for training class and ongoing certification. Requires volunteering two days a month, and free use of the range when not on duty.

Nice town. Great community.

We ended up staying in place in Wenatchee.

BUT I spend a couple of weeks each year outside of Pomeroy. Nice, very small town and your only a short distance from Lewiston-Clarkston.

For nowhereman427.......I love the smell of gun powder at any time of day, in the appropriate circumstances

Besides in Lewiston-Clarkson your only a few miles away from the Cal-Couger footgame game every other year!! Always a tough game for me as a UC Berkeley alum and a resident of eastern Washington for 40 years.
I'm originally from Berkeley/Oakland Hills, so I'm a die hard Cal fan and have been since 2001.

The Lewiston plant kind of smells like brussel sprouts or like a background waft that changes. But not as bad as people made out.

There are lakes, but the rivers are the main attraction. I know lots of folks out here like to hunt or fish.

Mountains are a given in Idaho. There is literally no place here where they can't be seen.

My wife is a homebody from western WA and to my surprise, she is happy even though her friends and family are all closer to Seattle or Portland.

I know Lewiston gets a bad rap, but compared to the comments I'd read online, I was expecting a decaying industrial town with a constant smell.

Does anyone else live in the L-C valley or North Central Idaho? We are buying a house out in Pomeroy because the price was right, but we still love Lewiston quite a bit.
Thanks for the post, I'm looking for cheap towns in idaho and any info helps.

You can get a fixer on the idaho side for maybe 120k and up.Not sure about 1 BDs, but two for livable starts maybe 155-175k and up. But I have heard you can get a good deal at 130k if timed right. Clarkston, on the WA side isn't terrible but is less preferred than Lewiston and basic livable 2BD seem to start around 115-120k but those do go quickly.

Reservation prices are really low but not sure how that works. You can get even cheaper when you go up in the mountains.....

I don't know much about Kellog or Mullan, closer to CDA/Montana but I've seen homes there for 100k or less.

Is Mullan even a town any more?
I may be wrong, but I think it's a deserted old gold camp that doesn't have anything left in it except for a few summer cabins.

It's still there and somewhat viable. It is the eastern terminus for the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes rail-to-trails bike path that starts in Plummer. The trail continues on into Montana, but unpaved. Eventually, it will be the Idaho contribution to a coast-to-coast off-road bike path.

The bike path gives a minor economic boost to the town. Otherwise, not much there, but people still live there. Latest stats show a few souls shy of 700 call Mullan home. They even have a combined high/junior high school and an elementary school.

Thanks, Volo.
How about Plummer? It was another old gold camp. Is it still a town?

(I've never been in either of them.)
