Hi my name is Joel and I'm 16; I grew up in Kamiah and can say I loved it. I currently live in Grangeville, a town about 30 minutes away and its ok over here to. If your daughter is interested in sports Kamiah has a well known, well respected, athletic program in the whole area. I don't think you should worry about your daughter fitting in because every new kid we ever got there was always treated nicely she'll adapt to it within a week gauranteed. Your don't have to worry about your daughter not fitting in because of racism because Kamiah has Natives, Mexicans, and other ethnic backgrounds. Overall I think it would be a good choice to pick Kamiah.

Hello, I grew up in Kooskia, and have spent a very large amount of time in and around Kamiah. You will really enjoy the town. The people are friendly but a little cautious at first. I cannot wait to get back there. As for the snow, maybe twenty years ago they were getting a foot, but those days are gone. They probably get 6-7 inches now days. Even then it melts fairly quickly. The school is good, they were my biggest rival in football even though we always won. My brothers' in-laws taught high school there for twenty years.

Great small town. Nice people, great services, medical clinic, hospitals nearby, good schools and community support. Lots of organizations for those who want to be involved, solitude for those who don't. Some of the best outdoor Recreation opportunities around. Hardly any snow in the valleys, a nice river flowing thru town to swim, float, and fish in. Next to the largest chunks of public ground in the lower 48, so plenty to explore. If you like outdoor activities you will never be bored.

I grew up in Kamiah, have been around the country, and wish I could live in Kamiah again. I would love to raise my kids there. The people are the finest, most generous people you will ever meet. If you love the outdoors, Kamiah is second to none, with the nearby Selway and Lochsa, the Clearwater river, the mountains, and sure, there are problems with things like drugs, etc., but trust me, NOT like just about everywhere else I've been in my adult life! I love and miss Kamiah-I say GO for it!
