We don't see anything about them, nor do we hear anything about/from them. Some of them may still be around, but they lay awfully low if that's the case...I actually find North Idaho to be WAY more tolerant than California or Nevada....by a HUGE margin...

I'd have to say the same thing about SE Idaho. WAY more tolerant than California.

The few of them that were here left a few years ago. The link above tells more about it. When they were here people rarely ever saw them.

Ummm...there never was a Nazi compound here. There was an Aryan Nations compound here, around Hayden Lake, but that was several years ago. If they are still here, they sure do keep to themselves. To my understanding, a lot of the buildings from the compound were demolished, but please correct me if I'm wrong!

There is a small contingent of white supremacists in south-central Idaho, in the Elba/Almo/Declo area.

There are most likely small groups of them spread out all over the North American Continent.

Tom Metzger and the Arayan Nation have been based in southern california(falbrook) for years, how come nobody ever brings up California when it comes to Nazi's and Skinheads? Always North Idaho... I have yet to see a skinhead, or even a hint of racist behavior anytime I have been there, and I've been there quite a bit, and know several people that live in and around CDA..

Neo-Nazi, 6thGen. Another name for the Aryan Nations.
Never were that many, never were that visible, pretty much gone now. Butler's dead (the local leader) and the rest have mostly gone back to where they came from. Idaho didn't grow most of these guys--they cam here from elsewhere because there is space to hide in and neighbors who tend to stay out of each other's business pretty well. Incidentally, when I moved here from SE Idaho seven years ago, many people--including my mother--worried aloud about the dangers of the Aryan Nations and their influence. What I found? North Idaho is more open and accepting than SE Idaho was. People here are far more likely to just enjoy the diversity. And it's real acceptance, not what often passes for tolerance that is really just a shift in intolerance from one set of groups to another. |
