I’m planning to tow a travel trailer from Mountain Home to Phoenix in the first week of December. I was either planning to take HWY 93 or I-15. I’m pretty confident in winter driving, my main concern is the wind because of the trailer. I would appreciate any experiences and heads up in trouble spots. Thank you.

Well... the way this year is going it might still be 80 degrees in the first week of December, lol.

I've not driven to PHX, just to Las Vegas from Mt Home. We took the freeway down, and HWY 93 back, and didn't tow our 5th wheel, just used a hotel. I think you'll be fine either way as long as there aren't any active storms the week you are traveling. Trailers don't like crosswinds and trailer brakes don't like snowy/icy roads. Going slow and steady will help alleviate both conditions. Hopefully you have a little flexibility in your travel dates to work around an active storm (if any). I think that's your only issue with the drive. I wouldn't take off in either direction if they were forecasting snow, because likely high winds will come with the snow, especially in the passes. There are desolate stretches either way you go, but the freeway at least offers you more travel companions, likely better cell service, and closer/more emergency services if something does go wrong.

Good luck and hope for a good weather week.
