Post Mountain Home AFB information

Can anyone help me with information about MH Air Force Base. My family and I are relocating there in two months from Okinawa, Japan. We have been here for 10 years and getting back to state side bases. Thanks for your time.

Default About Mtn. Home...

I lived at MHAFB and Mtn. Home, Idaho and Boise (for several years in each of those places). I have also lived in or been to most of the states and 17 countries. What would you like to know about it? People seem to either love it or hate it there--depends on your values, and your personality and goals. Where are you from? Where else have you been stationed in the U.S. or abroad and did you like where you've been before? If you could give me a little info, I could probably tell you how YOU'D feel about it and the neighboring town/city. Do you have children? If so, what ages? School on the base itself goes to 9th grade, then kids bus to town for grades 10-12. If you want to know about weather, it is rather mild compared to most of the rest of Idaho. In the valley there, parts of it look a bit like Afghanistan (not directly in the town, but on the outskirts of it), but the surrounding mountains which are not far are pretty. If you like going fishing, this is a nice area for that. If you can give me more info about yourselves, I could give more info and opinion. Also, is your wife a stay-at-home mom or will she seek employment there?
