I'm a traditional bowhunter myself. do any of you know if kids in the elk city schools are bused to grangeville high after 8th grade? likewise with stanley, are they bused or do they need to board. I really dont' want my future kids to need to board.

University of Idaho has a great outdoor program as well. I was in the recreation program at UI and the guy who runs it is pretty awesome. The UI Rec Center organizes a lot of neat outdoor activities.
Moscow may not be the place for you however due to how liberal it is. However, there's always Troy, Deary, Potlatch and Elk River - all small towns. Last edited by jazzyidahovandal; 06-25-2008 at 02:03 AM. |

The job situation in Stanley could easily be overcome by a telecommuting or Independent Contractor situation. If you have a computer and a talent that is in demand, ie. building websites, medical coding, transcription, etc., there are ways to make a living.

Telecommuting really isn't an option there yet, if ever. |

Verizon cell service serves Stanley the best, but others work as well in downtown proper like AT&T. We live four miles northwest of Stanley and Verizon has a clear signal. Also cell tower got approval on Galena so will be service in southern valley as well. We also have high speed internet service, so telecommuting could certainly be an option.

Hmm.
I didn't have Verizon service from Stanley until just outside of Ketchum two weekends ago during the Sawtooth relay. I've never had luck with service there (but in truth, isn't that the point of being in the SNRA - to get away from all that crap?). I even tried in the Merc, and nothing. Maybe its my phone? |

Speaking of which, this is an interesting article:

From what you say you want...long, snowy winters, lots of snow mobile trails, good moose hunting, etc....
You should check out the Sandpoint area. You might like the Coeur d'Alene area, too. Also, lots of good Christian churches to choose from and good schools in both communities, which you mentioned. |

Wesley-
It probably is your phone. When we first moved here my husband had service and I did not. His phone was brand new and mine was about a year old. I had to call in to Verizon and update my formatting or something of that nature. It took just a few minutes. Service dies fairly quickly once you head south on 75. I can even get reception at Redfish Lake. |
