Okay, I can concede to that, most definitely. Under further scrutiny, it occurs to me that I've engaged my own petty little "crusade" in this post. I actually agree with you as far as your comments go, since that "white trash" element is not only everywhere to an obnoxious degree, but very apparent in a great deal of Northern ID.
It's mostly just the generic labels that stoke a torch under my a**. All in all, there's nothing I can do about those, so I can join you in laughing at me on that notion. It just gets obnoxious time and again hearing people with no sense of the relativity of the human condition trying to say how life should be lived around the world. We're not all a bunch of urbanites in a fully functioning economy! In some places, people have to break a sweat and get their hands dirty to live a decent life (and no, the analogy doesn't escape me... it's very intentional).
But you're right in your case. I am really being hyper-sensitive. Crazy hicks scare me as much as the next human being and I, too, have felt that fear in North ID.

Stingraynm,
Rep to you for being gracious and reconsidering your feelings. NID around Sandpoint is changing very rapidly upscale. Lots of developers looking to build huge homes, etc. And moratoriums on manufactured home (mobile or on-slab) which does limit folks with less income from moving in. But there are quite a few lots for sale with mobiles on them still for sale.

Thanks for understanding from your standpoint, too. I know these forums aren't for rants/insults, and hope not to come across as one of the pathetic, ignorant jerks who fail to grasp a simple concept of cohabitation. A weekend trapped indoors can make me restless, though, and a bit prone to defensive outbursts.
Ultimately, an exchange of information should not be censored, and on that note, I try to make sure that I don't make it seem like a good idea. As I like to say, those who make totalitarianism look like a good idea are just as guilty as the worst of despots.

Just to clarify my last post, I'm saying that irresponsible people are the guilty party making totalitarianism look like a good idea. That's no reference to the fact that certain things have to be censored, but a reference to the people who make censorship necessary. I'm fairly libertarian, so that reference could go the other way (and has), but in this context I'm sure you can tell that I'd like some ilk to be censored just as much as more easily offended folks.
I just got a load of what "trolls" are on another thread (being me, I thought it was a fishing term when I first saw it ). Once I got a load of what that means in Internet chat terms, I'd hate to come across as one of those. Apparently they enjoy the usual "fascist" callouts when someone has the insight and ability to shut them down.
That will help me in the future, though, when I see demeaning posts. I see now that the same thing that made me lash out at you would make me an ideal victim. If you haven't already noticed, I'm guilty of trying get on terms with people who demean the citizens of my native state, and after moving and catching flak, my emotional investment in that is deep (and genuine, so thanks for not ignoring my initial spitting rant).
Yup, I was genuinely being defensive (albeit excessively temperamental) in my first post, and I hope you know there was no anti-moderator sentiment in my follow-up references to censorship (once again, thanks for responding to me and not ignoring, 'cause unlike a troll, I actually had an emotional investment in resolving what I saw as a misconception). I may crave responses/reactions to my posts, but I do because I actually care from a communal standpoint of sharing perspective and coming to accurate reflections that aren't harmful stereotypes. I'm quite the opposite of a sower of discord.
I'm new to this forum, but so far it has been helpful to me when my parents moved to Vegas and I was looking for good times/food/drink off the strip once I visited them. I try to give others the same type of detail and accuracy that I appeciated, 'cause it's a great feeling to visit/move to a place for the first time and live it up like a native. Naturally, it's equally as gratifying to help someone in that pursuit.

elousv, thank you for your pictures. We wanted to visit Idaho this summer, but unfortunately we had to change our plans. Beautiful state. Thanks again.
