Police work in idaho
Hello,
I'm currently finishing up school witha degree in criminal justice. I've been wanting to move out of iowa for awhile now, and out to the west. Reason being is all the times i've been out there i've loved it. Anyways i was wondering whats it like finding work and or workin as a police officer in Idaho
I've never been there but the pictures and everything that i've seen from there seem to be beautiful. So some information in general bout the state and what it's like there would be nice too.

There are so, so many threads on here regarding what Idaho is "like"...from southern to northern. You might need to be more specific. As for working in law enforcement, you can look city to city for police departments and their employment activity, as well as county to county to check into Sheriff's Departments and whether or not they are hiring. All the information is there

Dont forget to check Spokane Wa. if your considering N.Idaho. It would be an easy commute and it seems like Spokane would have a much larger dept. than say Couer D'Alene, or Post Falls etc...
Also N. Idaho is a retired Cop haven, So you dont have to leave when you retire..;-)

There are a lot of Police work jobs in North Idaho. We lose a lot of officers to Washington because their wages are higher than our.

My understanding is that Idaho Falls is actively seeking law enforcement officers. There is also an application online for the Shelley PD. Let me know if you would like links with application info. I'm moving there next week!!!

Here's another option: Boise, consistently voted one of the safest places to live in the country. Recently we've had a drop in crime 37% in the past 10 years. Check out the thread in Boise, one stop shop at the top of the page to learn more about this area.

One of the best places to live in the country, IMHO! There's a whole section on Boise in this forum. You'll find a lot of the information you're looking for there.
click on Idaho and then look above, then click on Boise

If I was going into Law Enforcment, and wanted to live in a large city, I think Boise would be about ideal. Enough action so as not to be boring, but not so bad it makes you jaded and calous to people in general. In my line of work I meet and know alot of Cops. The ones that work rough area's seem wary of everyone. Not that thats a bad thing, but it can get excessive in cases. Good luck!
