Thanks for the info Brian.
Actually I lived in Phoenix for 4 years. Did much exploring while I was there. Cottonwood is a nice place but I can't make a living there. Relocating is one thing. But since I am working class it's not easy to find a livable income without moving to a large city. Yet I enjoy smaller towns. Catch22.
I guess the admin doesn't like my out-take on Californians. But since I was born and raised here 49 years you get to know the people and the politics thoroughly.
I have two close friends who made the move to New Zeland. It's no different than trying to relocate to any other country.

Which area did you decide and why? Do you have any pictures you took?

Here we live in a 2 bed Apartment with a payment of $ 800.00 a month and this is not even ours. We are buying a nice home for $ 220,000 in Meridian. My hubby will be the only bread maker since I am a student and will be teaching.
I love the fact that there are so many church people. When I visited Meridian two months ago, I was shocked that most people were at Chucrh on Sundays. It's great that the state is so conservative. God will bless the whole state when people come to him. California is way too liberal and that is why everything is going down and I belive that if it does not stop the whole Sodome and Gamore, God will act and that is scary to imagine. So, I trully belive that if you want a good wholsome family, move to a conservative state like Idaho.

Marinka: Your post is very informative. I have been living in the Los Angeles area for my entire life. I am very disgusted with what has happened to California over the last several decades. I am a former homeowner who now is renting an apartment in Los Angeles. Financially, I am relatively well off. I have worked very hard for what I have accomplished. Eventually, I plan to move out of California altogether. California is much too liberal and the Los Angeles reminds me too much of the biblical Sodom and Gomorrah. What is happening in California and especially in major cities, such as Los Angeles, is that numerous middle and upper middle income people (together with their financial wealth) are leaving California and moving to other states and many of the people moving to California are lower income and poor people mostly from countries in Central America (especially Mexico). If this trend continues, California will become the equivalent of a third-world country with a relatively small number of wealth people, a declining middle class, and an increasing number of poor people. Unfortunately, the liberal politicians in Sacramento are too dense to realize what is happening in California. I am sure glad I am just renting right now. Numerous people who purchased houses and condominiums in Calfornia's urban and suburban areas over the past five years will find themselves in a financial "prison" as they will have a difficult time selling their residences at a price that exceeds their mortgage balance (due to the "real estate bubble" in California) yet these people will have to pay high taxes to support California politicians' liberal programs that support poor people, many of whom are here in the United States illegally.

wow!
You sound like a very bitter guy, I wonder if you ever have anything good to say. I just left Cali, and moved to Nampa, and in case you haven't noticed a booming city, that is simply just more affordable. You should really relax some.

We hear so many conflicting reports of Nampa I'd welcome your input.
I visited Boise in '04 and went to the Warhawk Museum in Nampa while there, I then spent a little time driving thru some Nampa areas and what I saw looked pretty good.

Nampa now
Looks like little Mexico even the billboards and most restaurants are in Spanish. Not the same city. When you drive through you wonder if you left Idaho.

It really didn't seem like that around the airport or the area I drove thru, the city seems to cover quite an area though and I really didn't pass thru what seemed like 'downtown'.

Slgalindo: I am bitter. I really miss the L.A. in which I grew up. Fortunately, there currently are some cities in other states where the quality of life now is similar to the quality of life in L.A. during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. In one city that I am seriously considering, the people generally are very friendly, the schools generally are quite good, and the houses have reasonable prices. I also have "roots" in this city I am seriously considering as my mother was born and spent the first 13 years of her life in this city. When my parents went to visit this city in 1996, they found that the people were very friendly. For now, I am not going to mention the name of this city, but before the end of 2007, I may be living in that city.

I hope you get out of here soon, Steve. I know how you feel; there are days when I can practically see my soul being sucked out of me! (I know that sounds overly dramatic, but I swear it's true.) However, I'm a bit amused that you won't yet share the name of the city you'd be moving to. This is a huge country. People escaping from L.A. have very different lists of what they want in climate, amenities, etc. Just because you list the city here doesn't mean that millions of other L.A. "refugees" are going to descend upon it and ruin it.
