yes, that's what it should be about. Do you think that there is a need for more salons for the size of the city, or do you feel that there is room to grow? Having my own salon here, I would eventually want to start up a new again. I love being a business owner. Just depends on how much competition there is out there.

Let me ask my hairdresser and see what she says. This area is growing so fast, I don't see why you couldn't have success opening up your own business. I'm sure there are several pockets in the metro area where your business could find a home. Maybe I can get you in where she's at till you open your own??? I'll send you a message with what she says.

Thank you. I would forsure work for someone else for a while. Always need to get the lay of the land. Always good to figure out what style is missing in an are and what people want. That can help a lot in ones growth.

Ok, so talked to my hairdresser and she was just a world of help. She said you would do very well here. I was suprised to hear that manicurist make more here, than in California. I'm not familiar with the pricing, but she indicated that the demand is here and there are some specialty area niches that need to be filled. Her recommendation was to work for a spa and build your clientele before starting out on your own.
I'm going to email her info to you- she said she be more than happy to help you out if you want to give her a call. They have openings at her place, but she said it might be hard to make rent if you don't have clients all ready lined up. I believe she said the two owners of her hair salon are on the cosmetology board locally and would help you out.
Give her a call- she is just the nicest gal!

Thank you so much. Im not surprised that we might do better there. Like I mentioned we compete with the Asian market and that really means the budget market. I would love to speak with her. We are realistically a year away from this move but it is always good to get a grasp and have contacts. I am curious about getting a Idaho manicurist License as well. Hopefully it won't be a big deal. I think Ca, and Tx are the two most difficult states and I hope that is the case, I don't want to go throught the whole testing thing again, although I know I would do well.

 Anytime!
She was saying what the Asian do in California is they get one license and share it amongst all the family members, hence you're not always getting the best person for the job. I couldn't tell ya if that goes on here, but she would know.

what others jobs are in demand?
Is there a demand for tanning salons since northern Idaho isn't always warm? What about book stores, vitamin shops? I have all these ideas in my head. It's pretty much an untapped market.

Tanning salons are big in Boise, but I don't know about Northern Idaho.

There are some tanning places in Sandpoint and CDA. They're pretty slow. Most of us are comfortable being pretty "neon white".
Vitamin and health food places abound. Sandpoint has 2 right in town. Sandpoint has one used book store (charming place), a stationery store that also sells books, and we're about 35 miles from the Borders in Hayden, and about 65 miles from the B&N in Spokane Valley.
So I wouldn't go so far as "untapped market". But if you can open a Trader Joe's here in Sandpoint, my wife would kiss your feet...
