Hi,
We are planning a visit to Idaho this summer--maybe July. We would like to find a campground to tent camp at. We have 3 kids so are looking for bathrooms and showers--they are all teenagers! We would also like to visit the Silverwood amusement Park and some nice boating lakes. Any advice on places to visit, things to see, restaurants... Thanks for your info! Hi Bakerdeb!
Surf to www.idahoparks.org and click on the Brochures & Guides tab, select "Parks" and order your free copy of "RV Idaho". It lists all of Idaho's camgrounds, both public and commercial, and shows facilities and amenities for each camping area. It also shows whether tent camping is acceptable. Once decided, make your reservations early right over the Internet. I have a website - idaho-insider.com - but it only shows public campsites. Enjoy your visit to Idaho. Bob/pimit2 |

The KOA at Wolf Lodge Bay, Coeur d'Alene Lake, on I-90 might be a good option.
Check it out online at www.koa.com (there might even be other KOA's in the area). We have stayed at KOA's in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, and Texas. Never had a bad experience yet. Always clean bath-houses, and usually have cabins available for those times when we're just too lazy to pitch the tents. You'll have a wonderful time at Silverwood! ![]() |

Beauty Bay on Coeur d'Alene Lake has a great hiking trail called the Mineral Ridge Trail -
It is close to Wolf Lodge Bay - just off I-90 on the two lane road that goes around the lake. The trail overlooks the lake and is breath-taking! Check-out the lake cruise opportunities at the Marina in Coeur D'Alene, near downtown - Beautiful and fun! The Coeur d'Alene city beach is great spot for swimming and picnic. There's a good museum right there that'll give you the whole historic "scoop" of the area too. Drive about an hour east on I-90 and take the gondola ride up to the top of Silver Mountain in Kellogg - Awesome views! While you're in the Kellogg area, be sure to take a mine tour - there's a couple of them in the valley: one just east of Kellogg a couple miles and one in Wallace just another five miles or so further. Both are great. In Wallace, there's a fun local melodrama theater called "The Sixth Street Melodrama". They'll have you booing for the bad guy and cheering for the good guy in no time - great laughs! Good food in Wallace - homestyle stuff - at Sweet's Cafe. A great place to eat on the way back toward Couer d'Alene is at the Enavillle exit off I-90: The Snake Pit. If you're a movie buff, you'll enjoy knowing the Snake Pit was a location that a scene or two of Dante's Peak (with Pierce Brosnan & Linda Hamilton) was filmed. Okay, well . . . that's enough from me . . . more suggestions? |
