Default Best Idaho Town?

Ok so right now I live in Cali, My family and myself hate it here and we're looking for a peaceful town where gas doesn't leave you bankrupt. I was wondering if CDA or Hayden Lake are quiet family friendly towns?

What I'm really looking for is a town that is peaceful, beautiful and the homes aren't too expensive.

thanks

Hi,
Up north is beautiful, CdA is a little bit busy as it is a touristy town...you might want to take a look at Cascade or Council if you want a mountainy kind of town, McCall is pretty but can also be expensive at it is a resort-type town. If you're looking for more rural farm-type country then there is Caldwell or Star. More suburban? Meridian, Eagle and Boise (more expensive especially northend). If you like the eclectic urban, the northen of Boise (Hyde Park area) is great..homes are more expensive but they do have character. If you don't mind more snow than Eastern Idaho like Pocatello or Idaho Falls are nice. Just depends on what you want

Your problem lies in the cost of gas. Last I checked with my sister, we're higher than they are in CA. I put 87 octane in my Camry right ow it's $3.97 a gallon.

Yep but my 15 room house on .5 acre cost me 99K in 2001, so from a California perspective, that is about 500K left over for gas...and a real sweet machine to burn it in...unless of course you buy it dirt poor like I did, oh well, it was nice to dream for a moment...

Gas is usually quite a bit cheaper in N. Idaho compared to Calif. This year is a bit different though. Its about .5 cents a gallon cheaper right now, but last year it was .20 cents or more cheaper. Monitoring the prices in both locales it does seem like gas prices fall a bit slower in Idaho for some reason. Once things level out though, Im betting the prices will go back down considerably more up there than in So Cal...
Just my .02 Your mileage may vary..;-)

BTW I personally think you would like most cities in N. Idaho especially between CDA and Sandpoint. CDA can get kinda busy, but still nothing like the conjestion we get in Ca. Good luck from a fellow Californian feeling the same way for quite some time now!
