Default Orofino idaho

Hi all! We are planning a move to Orofino in the spring/early summer of 2009. We are professionals--RN and Social Services, and have 5 great boys. We dont anticipate too much trouble in finding employment (for at least one of us to start). We live in the Lewistown Mt area at present and are not particularly fond of the 20 below to 50 below (with windchill) temps, high winds and dry climate in this area. We are originally from Willamette Valley Oregon, and we were looking for less rain, more snow, and less people but think we went too far. Orofino looks like a great mix of mountains, water, trees, snow in the winter, small town living with big town conveniences none too far away (the nearest town with shopping, medical specialist, etc from us now is 110 mi away). Any thoughts, PICTURES, advice about Orofino? thanks in advance!!!!

I know that area is absolutely incredible for outdoor activities and unreal scenery. They make some VERY nice rifle scopes there at Nightforce too;-)
Sorry I cant be of more help, but I've seen river trip pics from around there that have me wanting to plan a trip to that locale for sure. Its amazing country. Good luck!

Doesn't seem to be a lot of real estate in my range ($200,000) in Orofino, I checked it out. Must be a pricey area. But it is gorgeous. Good luck!

I've never been to Orofino but my daughter has played against their soccer team. I think it's great that there is still a place that is so un-politically correct that they name their high school teams the Orofino Maniacs. The high school is right next to the state hospital.

Default St maries

Thanks, all.. Seems there is a lot OVER 200K everywhere. We are considering St Maries as an alternative, (the thought of living by such a large dam makes us nervous) any thoughts?
