Hi we are thinking of transferring from Nevada City CA to St. Maries--does it snow a ton there? we don't mind a foot or two at a time as long as it melts before the next storm---How much is the electrical bills there compared to Calif? (we get ripped off). What is the State Tax? and how much is a gal of gas right now? ( its $1.81 at Acro the cheapest in town).

St. Maries gets more snow than Coeur d'Alene or Sandpoint. If you buy there make sure the road is maintained by Benewah County.
St. Maries is a beautiful area along the St. Joe River, There are a lot of good prices on Cabin type properties there. It has a logging based economy and the reacreational opeertunities are plentiful.
Electricity here is relatively cheap. Our gas and electricity bill for 2,000 Square feet was about $180 per month.
Gasoline here is about $1.45 a gallon. I think it is $1.40 at Costco.
There are also a lot of other things that are cheaper in Idaho like insurance and car registration.
