Miborn we could be neighbors...
We come to Idaho every year and with the help of a few friends we have met on this web site it's Emmett for us.
Yes we will have to wait untill spring or late summer of 09.
Then it's all up to our home selling down here in Tulare County.
Lets hope there is a family that needs 2800 sq ft on an acre with a shop just waiting to jump on this place.
I have no problem with moving in December if the moving van and my truck and trailer can get past Reno without augering off the road..

Not that it sounds as if you need validation, but Emmett is an excelent choice, it's a beautiful little valley and the real estate hasn't ballooned as much as Boise, Eagle, and Meridian.
I'm looking to cash out and leave the area myself. My crystal ball says wait about 2 yrs for some meaningfull recovery in the markets, but if you can do it now by all means relish the oportunity man. Best of luck with your move.

Hey..
We on the opposite side of the valley from where the orchards mainly are. But if you are planting than I would research what is needed ground soil type and water requirements. I know over down Star Lane is a high water table area. So make sure you research that about Emmett as well.
Now out where we are not high water table at all it is pretty much Ag dairy and farming.
The only thing I have had to get adjusted to because of living in the city for so many years is the travel time to Boise now. But Meridian is growing so much Eagle too. H*ll even Ontario has a Staples, Home Depot etc now

there are allot of very cute places out here and it "IS" a nice town.
Rural properties have not fallen that much out here I think mainly because they were not so inflated as everywhere else in the Eagle/star/middleton areas.

We are looking at the Bench area. 60 ft water table is a good thing and no flood insurance required.
All I need is some time to pass and a check from my company for many years of service.
Were coming to Emmett

As long as I don't blow up any customers or buildings or myself it looks like late next summer and it's retirement cake time.\Kiss a few of the office ladies snarl at a couple of bosses and hit the trail. In 20 minutes they will forget I ever worked there ( except the ladies )...

I agree with the rest of the pack...go for it. Life is short, dreams are tenuous at best. I am a single, 62-year-old woman who is retiring in January and as soon as I can sell my home here in AZ I am headed for northern Idaho. Why? because I want to. Because I feel drawn and compelled to do so...because I love it there...I love the scenery, the people, the weather, the lifestyle... and my life is at a turning point and if I do not grab at the gold ring now I may never have another chance. So, my vote is for you to follow your dream...and good luck on the way!!! "

Hey Desertryder,
If it all goes up in smoke......where would you rather be with your family trying to get by?
I'll bet not right where you are now.
Besides, it looks like there's plenty of good riding up there for more than one old "desert racer"
I was up with my wife and two of my boys, narrowing it down but, looks like outskirts of Emmett for us!
I'll have two at Boise State and one at Emmett High, cant wait to be there.

I just realized what a lame name I chose for this thing, it has nothing to do with snobs.
It's initials and then no BS 2 Idaho.
There's a good chance we'll be neighbors one day........
