Default Where oh Where?

Hello from South Carolina,

We are thinking of moving to Idho this next autumn, but are clueless as to where we might find a rental property out of the city. We love people, but on our terms . Our terms are easy enough for those who mind their own business. We like it quiet and that is why Idaho is on our list.

Does anyone have any reliable information on where a decent place might be. We do need to be within a reasonable driving distance to the Veterans Hospital in Boise.

Thank you.

Sosthenes

Hello Sosthenes,

How far would you consider to be a reasonable driving distance and how often will you be traveling there? Hope you find your place. You don't mention anything else you are looking for such as climate or vegetation, that could help us tell you if you want to be North, East or West of Boise..

You'll find plenty of people who appreciate privacy and quiet in Idaho. You chose well on that one.

When you say "out of the city", do you mean on a wide stretch of land or just away from the commercial/industrial zoning? Are you more interested in trees or is desert fine with you?

I don't know about the availability of rentals on remote land, but I suspect they'll require a substantial budget. If that's no issue to you, I'd look into Robie Creek (which is known for people who are neighborly but like their space), or even just some areas off Warm Springs, which with Broadway and Fort is pretty much a straight shot to the VA Hospital. For under 30 min. drive, you'd want to stay in the more developed area of Warm Springs before ID-21. If you don't mind the drive and budget, there might be rentals at Robie Creek.

That's just a shot in the dark, though. Twinprism's right with the suggestion to offer some other criteria. Maximum acceptable driving distance and elaboration on "out of the city" would help. Of course, for budget you'd want to get in touch with a real estate agent. You'd get much more fitting suggestions with more defined criteria. I'm just trying to think of places near Boise but not in Boise, on the East side (close to the VA Hospital). Boise's sprawling, though, so to get away from nearby houses will put you at more than an hour away from the VA Hospital or paying a fortune to live in the foothills.

Default Are you Sure Where or Where?

Sosthenes,
What you need to do is research better. We have a VA Domiciliary and it
does have a good staff. There also is clinics in several locations that allow services then appointments at the Boise VA Dom. I live in Gooding,
just northwest of Twin Falls. If I need a trip to Boise that service is provided by a veteran van, and will bring you home at the end of the day.
There are three vet homes in the State. From Lewiston and southern Idaho. Average distance to Boise is 130 miles one way.

As for privacy, all Idaho will work. People are usually friendly but tend more to their own business. My big complaint is Mormon solicitations of the Missionaries. To me it is harassment rather than anything else. I am
retired from the Air Force and like the Mountain Home Airbase.

Hope this helps?
