Default Cascade-Donnelly- Tamarack

My wife and I may have an opportunity to relocate in the mountains and I was wondering if anyone on this board lives in the area.
We are outdoor oriented and conservative. Love 4 seasons with snow, lived in the Sierra (Mammoth) so long winters aren't a prob. as long as the sun shines between storms.
We've only made one trip to the area, and a little local insight might help with our decision.
We currently live on the Olympic peninsula, but it rains so much even our oldest Lab is getting SAD.... and I'm starting to rust.
My biggest concern is that the Tamarack ski area may not survive. I'm not sure if that would affect our jobs ( Medical).
Any insight on that particular situation would be helpful.
Thanks

As far as I know the Tamarack situation is still very much up in the air. Lots of people moved there with thoughts of a huge boom and it busted a couple of times. Got bailed out busted and so on. Right now it is in another bail out. Things are still high in cost up there. Maybe buy in a more reasonable area to live and go up there as you want to to enjoy the area as more of an outing.

We live a little over 60 miles from there. There is no way I would consider living up there. Too many Beautiful people. Just not my type at all. I moved a long way to get away from that lifestyle. But for some it is great. To each his own.

We have four seasons here and there are several places for sale. The biggest draw back is we do get more fog in the winters then some places because we are along the river and just the lay of the land. There is rails to trails here so lots of nice cross country skiing or long walks with your dogs or horse riding , biking. Four seasons, small town. Not sure what your jobs were going to be at Tamarack. I would certainly be sure they were for the long haul. Once you buy in it might be hard to sell out.

Chris

That's it in a nutshell. You never know what's realy happening when BK procedings are dictating a company's future and they don't tell the paper the whole story. That being said Tamarack will probably be around for the long haul in one form or another, being the first new resort in the US in what like 30-40yrs? I just don't see all that infastructure going away without somebody operating a 4 season ski resort on that USFS leased property. It's a beautifull valley that will eventualy be quite sucessfull as a tourist based economy.

Shades, do you live in the valley?
My wife and I would be working at the Cascade Medical clinic. I'm an Xray/CT technologist and she's a nurse. we are currently in informal discussions with the leadership there. We wouldn't be working for Tamarack directly, although I understand that they have a small clinic at the base area during ski season.
Hopefully we will be up there again in December or early January for a few days for our second interviews.
Thanks for your input..
