Smile Middleton, ID?

Hello Idaho!

Ok, I went looking through other threads and in 7 pages didn't see my question, so I'll post it here.

I'm originally from S.CA; husband is originally from NY. We met in the Navy 14 years ago and now due to his job, are in Tulsa, OK. This is great for Okies, but it's NOT for us. Small town is a-ok, but we need more of an ourdoor lifestyle...living in a plains state just isn't it. (and call us crazy, we LOVE the snow!)

SOOOOOOO, for YEARS I had been hearing about how wonderful ID was! And now that we've started our family (we have a 11 month old) we're definitely looking for something familial...and I keep hearing nothing but kudos for ID left and right. We think we'll head to the Boise area, but something about Middleton caught my eye. Can anyone give me a bit more information about this city? All I know is it's about 20 minutes/miles from Boise (can't remember which) and the housing seems very fair.

What I am looking for overall is it close enough to Boise yet far enough away to enjoy that 'small town' feel? How is the jobmarket---or does one have to look more towards Boise for that? Schools? Any feelings/thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated.

MANY THANKS!!!

Middleton does give you that small-town feel and houses are priced reasonably there...it is close enough to Boise and other areas. You might also want to look at Star which is by Middleton and has that same small town feel. You are close to the foothills and mountains, depending on what you want to do...there are ski resorts, white water rafting, fishing, hiking, etc. within travelling distance. Depending on what types of jobs you're looking for, you'll probably be looking towards Nampa, Meridian and Boise for jobs, but the commute wouldn't be that hard..many people living in these areas do just that.
here's some websites that might be helpful

If you "love snow" you might want to look further north. You can find great homes (I've been shopping myself) around Coeur d'Alene, Rathdrum, Spirit Lake, etc and be within a short drive to Spokane, WA for all your big city needs.

Hello esselcue!

We have to stay around Boise as we've been repeatedly advised it's a better job market. Though, when we finally move there, we'll have NO problem visiting those other cities! Make NO mistake!

After the both of us being stationed in Iceland (Iceland is greener, Greenland is icier--but we still had SNOW) people thought we were crazy for being in love with that white stuff. What can I say...?

And I am keeping my log-in for this site, kristin...don't be surprised one day to get a call from Tulsa =).
