Creative people in Lewiston? Grangeville? Or???
Hi all---I'm in SW WA, planning to relocate to Lewiston or general area. Middle-aged single woman, self-employed, so social life is vital. Looking for a place with at least a handful of creative types, writers, musicians, artists, thinkers, talkers, people with curious minds. Bookshops, coffeeshops to hang out in, live music would be great too.
Open to rural, small town, or safe neighbood in city, as long as it's cheap (around $100K or less).
I'm planning to head out there this week and would like to have an idea of where to look first, instead of driving around blindly until I fall in love with the house in the absolute worst possible place, which I won't realize until too late LOL.
Can anyone offer any specific advice? Sure would appreciate it.

It seems to me there are a lot of creative people in the Lewiston/Moscow area as well as the small towns west of there in Washington - Pullman, Oakdale, Union City, etc. The university is in Moscow.
I haven't taken as much time as I would like to explore up there, but it is on my list. We've been through there numerous times on our way to Spokane.
I am a huge fan of Mary Jane's Farm (marysjanesfarm.org) in Moscow. Now she is creative and surrounds herself with like minds.

I have spent most of my life in and around Lewiston. I dont think youre type of people are not there. Maybe Moscow-Pullman area would be better. I think Lewiston Is more down to earth conservative thinkers. Not so progressive as you might be. Not trying to be rude, blunt maybe, just stating it as I feel I know it.

Hi mark6052---Just back from ID, very interesting. Lewiston isn't for me, but not because of the people, who were great---I lived near a paper mill for years, and was hoping to get away from that. I did find some small towns that seemed a good fit. I'm actually pretty much of a hermit, spend most of my time outside, and just wanted some bright, interesting people, of any beliefs, to spend time with now and then. I found plenty of them all over ID, learned about horse breeding, learned about moose hunting, learned about badgers and jet boats, had some really interesting conversations on all sorts of subjects. Also ran into some out-of-staters who were talking down about the area and the unfriendly people. Not my experience at all.
I plan to go back in a month, hope to buy a modest little old house I found.
Thanks for your input, appreciate it.
