Good afternoon all!
I am hoping I can gain a little more knowledge about the CDA area from you all. We currently live in the Wood River Valley (Blaine County) and are looking to move out of the area. My first question is regarding the job market. I am currently working in the government field for the last 3 years but would like to transition out of it. I have a background in environmental sciences and am looking at the private sector. My SO is a journeyman electrician - he would like to stay non-union. How is the job market on these fields? Any idea of basic salaries? From what little reasearch I've done it seems like he would take a paycut but there are many more lucerative possibilities in my field.

My second question: how is the general attitude up there? One reason we are moving out of BC is to get away from the hummer, multi-million dollar, I'm better than you attitudes. It did not used to be like this here but things have changed for the worse.

Also, is there any alternative schooling? Reading through other threads it sounds like the area has great schools in general but we would like to send our DD when ready, to a Montessori or Waldorf type school (depending on costs of course!) General day care costs would be appreciated as well.

Thanks so much and if you have any questions about the area we currently live in I will be more than happy to answer them.

There is a charter school here, but I can't say what their education philosophy is other than that it's very academically challenging. There is both Montessori and Waldorf in the area--possibly Spokane, though.

Can't say about the job market.
