We came here with nothing, without "a home to sell first". We have made a good living here, raised our kids in a wholesome environment, and been happy. One person's bad experiences in one place in the state obviously do not reflect the vast majority; apparently most people are finding it a good place to stay -or there wouldn't be the growth that the census bureau shows.
