Default Fried Chicken in Idaho Falls?

OK, hoping a few of my friendly locals see this one...

I'm going through a bachelor-like phase (wife is traveling to see family) and I have a fixin' for some fried chicken - can anyone suggest a good place to get it here in IF? Please, no KFC - looking for down-home type chicken and all the goodies to go with it.

Hmmm Perkins or Smitty's comes to mind. I know my husband has had it at Smitty's and is still alive Myself, I prefer grilled chicken breast so I can't vouch for it. Trust me, wouldn't suggest KFC anyway

Breer23,

Yours is a question I don't think we see too often in this area. We have such a Cali, westcoast influence regarding "healthy eating." So who shares who has the best grease?

Weird as these may sound - and do call ahead or ask others as I don't know for sure (I can't remember the last time I had Fried Chicken. I eat meat, I'm just not fond of Fried Chicken). Cleosmom probably has it best picked in Smitty's or Perkins. The only other places I'd recommend you CALL to ask might be Mitchell's in Iona and the North Hiway Care.

Oh, the other place I think really could have it is what use to be the Diner by the Holiday Inn Express on Channing. Is it Dixie's Diner or something like that now? I never can remember the correct name now. They have lots of down home cooking that is good, many have been surprised. Call them and ask what they have because they will often sell out of some of their specialties.

Of course the best I've had has been at family gatherings. Don't think my sister-in-law is planning on opening a restaurant any time soon, though. I'll let you know if she changes her mind. Until then, let us know what you find.

MSR
