Thanks, Esselcue--if we don't make an effort to follow our dreams, we can't complain if they don't come true...
Just posted a message on another tread, and I'll repeat my little piece of advice here: When you guys go to look for properties/homes, take digital pix of the flyers also--that'll make it so much easier to sort the pix and your impressions later on. After seeing the first 5 properties last summer it occurred to me to shoot pix of the flyers, too. It helped. Of course I was looking for bare land, and it's hard to sort out afterwards just where those pine trees were!

For those looking for property in the Sandpoint area. There's a few decently priced properties but beware!

When I first came up and bought my property it was 2001, prices were dirt cheap and I bought my place when it had four feet of snow covering everything..not knowing what was underneath. It needed a bit cleaning but has been well worth the investment. My second attempt at buying when the market was a bit more active produced some real shady tactics on advertising. We noticed the same pictures were used in multiple listings, no mention of water or septic, "lake access" when it was not, etc. So be prepared to ask, ask, ask. We even cold called people to get the nitty gritty on a property being listed.
At Providence lake a neighbor said the lot would be underwater in a heavy rain season...not mentioned by the agent even though it was a muddy ride into the area. Maybe an online friend in the area would be willing to take a picture of the property of interest? And I'm not trying to bash anyone but doing your homework really does pay off in the end.
My husband has retired up here, I'm working in CA flying back and forth waiting for my turn to retire....
