Default Priest River Golf Course

Hi everyone, I just found this forum, have been reading posts for 2 hrs, and love it.

Last summer we purchased 20 acres overlooking Priest River. Just below us, farms stretched out toward the river and we saw them harvesting hay. It was a beautiful sight. But we were told that all of those farm homes were empty and had been bought out by a company planning to put in a major golf course and 500 homes. We like the idea of the golf course, (would prefer to see the farms), but 500 homes?? Im sure this economy has put a stop to the project, but not sure.

We plan on retiring there in 7yrs and my fear is that the project will be firing up right about then and we will listen to years of construction noise.
Does anyone know anything about the status of this golf course? Im finding it hard to get any kind of info on the internet. Thanks!

Interesting. I've heard nothing about that. I see this one:
Ranch Club Golf Course

And I see one at Priest Lake.

I seriously doubt Priest River coud support another golf course, and the idea of 500 homes going in...I just have trouble seeing that. 1500'ish more people coming to the area buying homes in the $300-500K or higher range? It would take a SERIOUSLY robust economic recovery for this to ever happen IMO...

My hay comes from that future golf course (the old Anselmo ranch). The farms are not all empty; I know people who live down there and it will be a terrible shame when it is built up. But that is the plan. It just seems to keep being put off because of the economy.
Priest River is in a lovely location and I think will eventually be gentrified which will have plusses and minuses.
Welcome, by the way...we live north of Priest river and have been here almost seven years.
